  • Patent number: 11268773
Abstract: A heat exchanger assembly includes first and second heat exchangers integrated with a thermally actuated control valve assembly having first and second surfaces to which the first and heat exchangers are attached at various orientations to each other, including at 90 and 180 degrees to each other, and side-by-side. The valve assembly has two fluid ports for connection to an external fluid source, and two fluid ports in fluid communication with inlet and outlet manifolds of each heat exchanger. The heat exchangers may be a transmission oil heater and a transmission oil cooler, and the valve assembly controls the flow of transmission oil to the heat exchangers depending on the oil temperature. One or both of the heat exchangers may be brazed or mechanically secured to the valve assembly. The housing of valve assembly may be segmented, with each heat exchanger being brazed to one of the segments.

  • Patent number: 10900557
Abstract: An assembly includes a valve integration unit attached to a transmission oil heater. The valve integration unit includes a valve mechanism and a housing having first to sixth fluid ports for oil input and output. The interior space of the housing has three portions, including a second portion defining a valve chamber and a third portion defining a bypass flow passage between the first and second portions. The valve mechanism has a temperature responsive actuator and first, second and third valve members. The movement of the first and second valve members is actuated by the temperature responsive actuator. The third valve member and the third valve opening are located in the second portion of the interior space. The third valve member is actuatable in response to a pressure differential between the first and second portions of the interior space.

  • Publication number: 20200347940
Abstract: A one-piece valve cartridge assembly for controlling fluid flow in a vehicle has a valve actuator, first and second valve members and a valve cap. The actuator has a piston which is extendable and retractable along a longitudinal axis, with the valve members being provided at opposite ends of the actuator body. The valve cap includes a central, longitudinally extending sleeve portion to receive the free end of the piston with an interlocking fit. The piston may have an annular groove which interlocks with an annular bead inside the sleeve portion of the valve cap. The interlocking fit prevents separation of the assembly components during manufacturing and shipping, with axial alignment of the assembly is maintained by a close fit between the piston and the sleeve portion.

  • Publication number: 20050140095
Abstract: An insert molded structure has a compressed O-ring seal on an inner end portion of an insert member such as a metal tubular member, a wall of, for example, an injection molded housing of plastic material partially encapsulating the O-ring seal and the inner end portion of the tubular member and maintaining the O-ring seal in radial compression.

  • Publication number: 20040066039
Abstract: A mechanical connection for tubular members has a male tubular member with a distal end portion containing an O-ring. A female tubular member fits over the male member in sealing engagement with the O-ring, so that the O-ring is only radially compressed. The female member is crimped or compressed on to the male member, such that engaging ribs and grooves in the male and female members lock the members together against axial relative movement. The crimping operation does not affect the O-ring seal because the ribs and grooves are spaced axially from the O-ring seal.
