  • Patent number: 4890550
Abstract: An apparatus for treating fibre material containing liquid, comprising two rotating drums (2, 3), an endless driven belt (17) pervious to liquid and gas and extending between and passing around the surfaces (8, 9) of the drums, a feeding device (10) for the supply and a discharging device (13) for the removal of the fibre material, at least one container for collecting liquid, the liquid being displaced from the fibre material through the endless driven belt (17), a continuous wall (18) impervious to liquid and gas and extending along a main part of and at a distance from the belt (17) from the feeding device (10) to the discharging device (13) in such a manenr that a continuous space (19) is defined for the fibre material between said wall (18) and the belt (17), and at least a part of the space (19), seen in the direction of movement of the belt (17), forms one or more treating zones where liquid is displaced from the fibre web through the movable belt (17) to one or more containers.

  • Patent number: 4818345
Abstract: A distillation apparatus intended for distilling liquid, primarily water, comprising a distillation unit which includes a porous, hydrophobic membrane (2) which is pervious to steam, or vapor, but impervious to liquid, and a condensation surface (3) located at a distance from the membrane, such as to present an air gap (4) between the membrane and the condensation surface, the distillation apparatus further comprising units for conducting the liquid (20) to be distilled on the membrane surface remote from the air gap (4), and a unit for conducting a liquid (22) which is colder than the first mentioned liquid (20) on the side of the condensation surface (3) remote from the air gap (4). According to the invention the distance (L) between the membrane (2) and the condensation (3) lies in the range of about 0.2 mm-about 1 mm, and the thickness (b) of the membrane (2) is less than about 0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 4345913
Abstract: A method and a device for determining the lignin content in pulp by measuring the temperature increase on chlorination of a pulp sample with well-defined moisture content. The pulp sample is dewatered by pressing and simultaneously being blown through by a gas having low oxidization activity, subsequent to which the maximum temperature increase is registered when the pulp sample is blown through by chlorine gas.
