  • Patent number: 8834465
Abstract: Implementations of modular tools and methods of operating modular tools are described in the present disclosure. A modular tool according to one of several possible embodiments comprises a handle portion and a distal portion. The handle portion is configured to be manipulated by a user. The distal portion is configured to be attached to the handle portion, but is further configured to be removable from the handle portion by the user. Manipulation of the handle portion causes movement of one or more components of the distal portion. The distal portion is further configured to sense one or more parameters and transmit the sensed parameters to the handle portion.

Date of Patent: September 16, 2014
    Assignee: Immersion Corporation
Inventors: Christophe Ramstein, Christopher J. Ullrich, Anne DeGheest
  • Patent number: 8407065
Abstract: A method and/or system allowing patients to receive consistent, effective and convenient reliable wound care by applying customized wound dressings fabricated at automatic wound dressing fabricators deployed in medical facilities. Wound dressing specifications are generated with the aid of a computer-based configuration algorithm based on characteristics of the wounds. The generated wound dressing specifications are communicated between the medical facilities to provide consistent and reliable wound dressings without duplicative diagnosis of the wound. Further, telemedicine for wound care may be implemented by communicating the wound dressing specifications to automatic wound dressing fabricators that are remotely located.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 26, 2013
    Assignee: PolyRemedy, Inc.
    Inventors: Anne DeGheest, Dmitriy Sinyagin
  • Publication number: 20110046659
Abstract: A minimally invasive surgical tool includes a sensor that generates a signal in response to an interaction with the tool. The tool further includes a haptic feedback system that generates a haptic effect in response to the signal.

  • Publication number: 20050240073
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided to administer treatment to walls of either naturally occurring cavities or cavities generated by the resection of tissue such as tumors, and to ensure better tissue contact of the device resulting in more effective treatment methods. A device may include a rigid outer surface, that can be brought into firm engagement with the tissue of body cavities by applying suction through channels in the head and stem portion of the device. Methods to treat conformed body cavities tissues may use individual or combination of physical agents including radiation, heat, cold, electrofrequency or chemical agents, such as thrombolytic and cytostatic medications. Systems may include devices described in the invention and sources to provide suction and/or other described means to enhance body tissue conformance to a non-deformable and/or non-distensible body.
