  • Patent number: 8687858
Abstract: A method and a device for producing thin sections of a sample by means of a microtome is described, in which a camera acquires at least one image of a surface generated by sectioning of the sample. With the aid of an evaluation device, the image of the surface is evaluated in terms of predefined characteristic values of a section quality. As a function of the characteristic values that are identified, a decision is then made as to whether the section of the sample is accepted or not.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 2009
Date of Patent: April 1, 2014
    Assignee: Leica Biosystems Nussloch GmbH
Inventors: Roland Walter, Andreas Laudat, Annett Leonhardt

  • Publication number: 20100101385
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a microtome are described. According to the method, a specific type of a sample to be sectioned is detected, at least one stored sectioning parameter value is determined as a function of the specific type of the sample that was detected, said value being allocated to the specific type of the sample and defines a specific setting of the microtome, and the setting the microtome as defined by the determined sectioning parameter value is performed automatically.
