  • Patent number: 11951860
Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to battery charging management of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). In an example method, a processor generates an operational profile for a first BEV among a number of BEVs. The profile may be based on a mileage accumulation pattern, a parking pattern, and/or a battery charging pattern, detected over an information collection period. The mileage accumulation pattern may be based on the use of the first BEV for commuting from a residence to a workplace. The processor determines an availability of a battery charging outlet in a section of a garage of the residence, and based on the operational profile of the first BEV, identifies a period of time for charging a battery of the first BEV in the garage. The processor then issues a directive to park the first BEV in the section of the garage over the identified period of time for charging the battery.

  • Patent number: 11934202
Abstract: A smart container for transporting items in transportation vehicles, e.g., an autonomous vehicle (AV), having heating/cooling capabilities, security features, unloading/loading assistance, and/or GPS cellular tracking for positional awareness, and methods of use thereof, are provided. The smart container includes an inductive charging module for receiving power from the vehicle. The container may provide information to facilitate delivery. When the vehicle arrives at a delivery destination, the customer may be provided a map of containers within the vehicle, and a specific container may provide an indication that it is the correct container. The customer may then provide a code to access the container. If a container is improperly removed, an alarm may be triggered and a notification may be provided to a third party.

  • Publication number: 20230341229
Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to multi-modal trip planning and event coordination. A method may include detecting, by a first device, based on first location data of a vehicle, that the vehicle has arrived at a destination location for a passenger of the vehicle; generating directions from the vehicle at the destination location to a physical structure at the destination location; presenting the directions; detecting an image of the passenger exterior to the vehicle at the destination location; identifying, by the at least one processor, based on the image, user information associated with the passenger at the destination location; detecting, based on the user information and second location data associated with a second device of the passenger, a disorientation event associated with the passenger; generating, based on the detecting of the disorientation event, instructions to be presented to the passenger; and presenting the instructions.

  • Publication number: 20230269463
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods associated with a vehicle that is configured to provide photography assistance. An example method executed by processor of a vehicle may include generating a guidance associated with a photo capture operation and conveying the guidance to a vehicle controller. The processor may assist the vehicle controller to execute a vehicle maneuvering operation to capture a photograph of an object of photographical interest located outside the vehicle. The vehicle maneuvering operation can include parking the vehicle at a location that provides a view of the object or slowing down the vehicle while driving past the location. The photo capture operation can include the processor determining that the object is in a field of view of a camera mounted on the vehicle, configuring the camera to capture a photograph of the object, and operating the camera to capture the photograph of the object.

  • Patent number: 11699121
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to evaluating loading and unloading times of items in a vehicle. The vehicle may be equipped with an object-sensing mat placed in a cargo area and coupled to a computer configured to execute a timing evaluation module. A first change in weight or pressure is sensed when an item is either placed upon, or removed from, the object-sensing mat. An increase in weight or pressure indicates loading of the item on to the vehicle, and vice-versa. The computer can generate a timing prediction model based on processing sensor signals from the object-sensing mat and determining the amount of time taken for loading or unloading items from the vehicle. In one application, a timing prediction model may be generated for each customer of a goods delivery service and used for optimizing delivery operations.

  • Publication number: 20230076816
Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for assisting a battery electric vehicle (BEV) execute a battery charging operation. In an example method, a processor of a battery charging advisory system in a BEV obtains information about a battery charging lot and evaluates the information to identify a battery charging station having a first charging cable that includes a first type of plug which is compatible for coupling to a charging port of the BEV. The processor may then identify a location of the charging port on the BEV and uses this information to determine an orientation of the BEV with respect to the battery charging station. The processor then provides an advisory for maneuvering the BEV into a position that allows coupling of the first charging cable of the battery charging station to the charging port of the BEV.

  • Publication number: 20220157449
Abstract: Example embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to an automated triage nurse system in a vehicle. In an example scenario, the system issues a set of questions to evaluate a severity of a medical emergency event associated with an occupant of the vehicle. The questions may be issued through an audio system in the vehicle and the medical emergency event may be caused by a vehicular accident or may be a medical trauma suffered by the occupant. The system provides medical advice to the occupant, if the occupant provides a response that indicates to the system that it is unnecessary to summon a first responder. The medical advice can be a first-aid instruction. On the other hand, the system may contact a first responder located in a medical facility if the occupant of the vehicle provides no response, or provides a response that indicates a serious medical problem.

  • Publication number: 20210245558
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to systems and methods that determine theft of a wheel on a vehicle using a capacitive proximity sensor system. The systems and methods determine that a vehicle is parked, and then receives information indicative of a capacitance at a first sensor positioned proximate a wheel well of the vehicle. The systems and methods further determine, based on the information, that the capacitance exceeds a first threshold. The systems and methods further determine, based on the information, that the capacitance exceeds the first threshold for a period of time that exceeds a second threshold. The systems and methods further send a message to a mobile device in response to capacitance exceeding the first threshold for the period of time that exceeds the second threshold.

  • Patent number: 10820174
Abstract: Technologies are provided for identification of a vehicle or a condition of the vehicle based on recognition of gestures of a pedestrian in the surrounding of the vehicle. Some embodiments of the technologies utilize multiple devices integrated into the vehicle and include a control unit that can control the operation of at least some of the multiple devices. The control unit can determine that a defined mobile device is within a defined range from the vehicle. In response to such a determination, the control unit can identify a gesture of a pedestrian relative to the vehicle, the pedestrian having the mobile device. The control can then cause at least one of the multiple devices to provide one or more visual signals based at least on the gesture. Such visual signals permit identifying the vehicle, an entry point to the vehicle, a condition of the vehicle, or a combination thereof.
