  • Patent number: 6265069
Abstract: The present invention relates to inorganic particles, with the exception of silica, comprising at least one functionalized polyorganosiloxane grafted over all or part of their surface, the said polyorganosiloxane being functionalized by: at least one alkoxy group, and at least one organic group chosen from alkyls, alkenyls, mercaptoalkyls, sulphoxides, epoxys, (meth)acryloyloxy groups, amino groups, hydroxyl groups, siloxy groups, ethers, ketones, esters, phosphorus-containing groups or polymer portions comprising vinylaromatic, ether, amide or sulphur repeat units. The invention also relates to the process for the preparation of these particles. It also relates to compositions comprising the said particles and at least one thermoplastic polymer, particularly polyolefins.

  • Patent number: 6200375
Abstract: The invention concerns a novel titania pigment useful for external painting. This pigment has a titania nucleus coated successively with a layer of zirconium hydroxide or oxyhydroxide, then a layer of titanium hydroxide or oxyhydroxide, then of a layer of co-precipitated phosphate and silica, and finally a layer of aluinium oxyhydroxide. The invention also concerns a method for preparing said pigment and its use in paints, plastics and laminated paper.

  • Patent number: 5942281
Abstract: Process for the surface treatment of a titanium dioxide pigment, characterized in that it comprises the following steps:an aqueous suspension of titanium dioxide pigments is formed,in a first step, a layer of alumina phosphate is precipitated on the surface of the pigment,in a second step, a layer of alumina is precipitated over the first layer of alumina phosphate, the pigment is recovered from the suspension;and titanium dioxide pigment, characterized in that it comprises a titanium dioxide core coated successively with a layer of alumina phosphate, then with a layer of alumina and then with a layer of magnesium oxide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 1997
