  • Patent number: 11620543
Abstract: A method includes identifying, based on sensor data received by a motion sensor, a physical activity performed by a user of the computing system during a time period and determining whether the user consumed media during the time period that the user performed the physical activity. The method also includes responsive to determining that the user consumed the media during the time period that the user performed the physical activity, determining, based on data indicative of the media consumed by the user, an updated physical activity performed by the user during the time period; and outputting data indicating the updated physical activity.

  • Patent number: 11580978
Abstract: Provided is an in-ear device and associated computational support system that leverages machine learning to interpret sensor data descriptive of one or more in-ear phenomena during subvocalization by the user. An electronic device can receive sensor data generated by at least one sensor at least partially positioned within an ear of a user, wherein the sensor data was generated by the at least one sensor concurrently with the user subvocalizing a subvocalized utterance. The electronic device can then process the sensor data with a machine-learned subvocalization interpretation model to generate an interpretation of the subvocalized utterance as an output of the machine-learned subvocalization interpretation model.

  • Patent number: 11546659
Abstract: An audience measurement service may monitor broadcasts in a region, ingesting closed captioning data, metadata, displayed text or logos, performing facial recognition on people, and/or generating audio/video fingerprints of broadcast content to create a database of content and associated keywords, along with times at which the content was broadcast. The audience measurement service may receive user search queries from a search provider and detect “spiking” queries. The audience measurement service may determine whether the spiking queries are related, contextually and temporally, to an item of content identified in the database, and infer that users generating the queries likely viewed the item of content. In some implementations, the audience measurement service may also infer that the users likely viewed other items of content (e.g. advertisements) displayed during the prior or subsequent few minutes on the same broadcast channel as the query-triggering item.

  • Publication number: 20220409134
Abstract: Trained machine learning models can be used for analysis of signals obtained through an in-ear or on-body device. Signals can be analyzed to determine information related to activities such as eating, chewing, drinking, coughing, or sneezing. In addition, data from an in-ear thermometer or other data sensors can be analyzed in conjunction with the machine learning models to provide data or recommendations to a user on a user device or initiate an action.

  • Publication number: 20220292153
Abstract: A server system detects presentation of a media content item being played at a first device in proximity to a second device associated with a first user. It also receives from the second device content information derived from sound output from the presentation of the media content item at the first device captured at the second device. Based on the received content information, it identifies the media content item being played at the first device and a plurality of first quotations associated with the media content item. The server system sends to the second device the first quotations and a plurality of quotation operation affordances. It receives selection by the first user of a first affordance of the quotation operation affordances for a first one of the first quotations. In accordance with the selection, it performs an operation with respect to the first one of the first quotations.

  • Patent number: 11328014
Abstract: At least one aspect of the present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of extracting media segments based on fingerprint matching. The method can include receiving a media stream comprising a plurality of frames and generating a plurality of fingerprints corresponding to each frames. The method can receive a target timestamp and determine a target fingerprint from the plurality that corresponds to the target timestamp. The method can retrieve candidate fingerprints, each of the candidate fingerprints corresponding to a frame in a candidate media stream. The method can compare the target fingerprint to the candidate fingerprints to determine a matching candidate fingerprint. The method can match fingerprints that correspond to media frames before and after the target fingerprint to determine the upper and lower bounds of a segment of interest. The method can extract the segment of interest based on the bounds and provide it to a respective party.

  • Publication number: 20220116682
Abstract: A process adapts user-initiated search queries. The process executes at a client device with a microphone. The process downloads audio fingerprints from a remote server for a plurality of video programs, and downloads information that correlates the audio fingerprint to the video programs. The audio fingerprints are preselected according to relevancy criteria, including stored user preferences and prior search queries by the user. The audio fingerprints and correlating information are stored locally. The process detects ambient sound using the microphone and computes one or more sample audio fingerprints from the detected ambient sound. The process matches a sample audio fingerprint to a locally stored audio fingerprint and uses the correlating information to identify a first video program corresponding to the matched sample audio fingerprint. The process then receives user input to initiate a search query. The process provides auto-complete suggestions for the search query based on the first video program.
