  • Publication number: 20230108925
Abstract: A lighting arrangement has a lighting module with a sensor element in parallel with a light source arrangement between module terminals. A measuring system is provided for measuring, at the module terminals, a signal which is dependent on the sensor element when the light source arrangement is turned off. • Publication number: 20220361308
Abstract: In one aspect, a device is adapted to transmitting power to, or receive power from, a remote device over first and second communication lines (DALI+, DALI?) and to communicate with the remote device over the first and second communication lines. A first driver implements a first communications protocol which comprises coupling the first and second communication lines together to encode a first signal level and isolating the first and second communication lines from each other to encode a second signal level. This may be a DALI protocol. A second driver implements a second communications protocol which comprises modulating the first communication line with a signal having a low modulation depth. The second communications protocol means there is always a voltage difference between the two communication lines to enable continuous power harvesting. A second aspect relates to efficient power transfer by disabling a current limiter function, when possible.

  • Patent number: 11397693
Abstract: The invention relates to a peripheral device for communicating with a host and for controlling a controlled device, to a system including such peripheral device and at least the controlled device and to a corresponding method including a communication and a controlling. In order to allow for a possibility for upgrading controlled devices with further functionality during their service life at low initial costs or efforts on the side of the controlled devices, it is provided for an interconnection between a portion of the system using a complex standard and another portion of the system not using such standard by means of the peripheral device having a dual purpose, as a peripheral device to the standard compliant host and as a controlling device to the controlled device. In both cases, however, power is provided to the peripheral device from either the host or from the controlled device.

  • Patent number: 10687404
Abstract: According to a concept of the invention, there is proposed a communication interface that enables communication and power transfer between a luminaire and a connectable module. The communication interface comprises a driver circuit which generates an AC power supply for a primary winding, the primary winding being magnetically couplable to a secondary winding for powering the connectable module. A data sensing arrangement is adapted to detect a variation in the voltage/current of the primary winding which has been induced by the secondary winding. A control arrangement selectively couples a first and second DC input, upon which the AC power supply is based, together or to a common voltage.

  • Publication number: 20200119947
Abstract: The present invention relates to a signaling system, methods and computer program products for increasing data rate of addressable lighting networks (e.g. DALI networks). A bus clamping technique is suggested to allow fast data communication without affecting operation of normal network devices. The proposed scheme is useful in applications such as outdoor luminaires where the network data rate is too low for use cases that require 5 real-time microphone or image data transfer, for example.

  • Patent number: 10080122
Abstract: A receiver module (101), transceiver module for body coupled communication devices (100) and a method of waking-up a body coupled receiver of a body coupled communication device (100) are provided. The receiver module (101) of the body coupled communication device (100) comprises couplers (102) for receiving signals via a body transmission channel (160) which follows a body of a user (150). A wake-up receiver (108) and a main receiver (106) of the receiver module (101) are coupled to the couplers (102). The main receiver (106) may operate in a sleep mode and in an operational mode. The wake-up receiver (108) generates a wake-up signal (107) when signals received via the body transmission channel (160) in a predefined spectral range exceed an energy threshold level. The wake-up signal (107) is provided to a circuitry of the body coupled communication device (100) to directly or indirectly configuring the main receiver (106) in the operational mode.

  • Patent number: 9497818
Abstract: Apparatuses for controlling light modules (5) comprise first circuits (1) for detecting first control information transported via first signals and second circuits (2) for converting first control information into second control information. The second control information is transported via second signals. The first and second control information define light settings of the light modules (5) and have different representations. The first control information may be phase-cut information or first data. The second control information may be a parameter of the second signal or second data. The apparatus may further comprise a third circuit (3) for converting power from the first signals into third signals destined for power inputs (51) of the light modules (5). The second signals may be destined for control inputs (52) of the light modules (5). This way, a control of a light module (5) has been separated from powering the light module (5). Many more control options have become possible.

  • Patent number: 9313852
Abstract: The present invention concerns LED drivers and is in particular directed to signal overlay for feature addition to an existing LED driver. Specifically, the invention is directed to an apparatus (200) for operating a LED driver (100), to a method of operating a LED driver, to a computer program for operating a LED driver and to a LED driver unit. The apparatus (200) is capable of overlaying an overlay signal (digital or analogue) to a control signal (164) of the LED driver (100) in dependence of external control information (256). The control signal (164) is provided to the LED driver at a control signal inlet (105). By overlaying the overlay signal, the apparatus (200) modulates the control signal (164) and provides a modulated control signal (164) to the same control signal inlet (105).
