  • Patent number: 7440422
Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for data transmission in a cellular telecommunication system, in which system data are transmitted in units of bursts, each burst occupying a time slot (TS[j]) of one of consecutive frames (F[i]), each respective frame comprising a predetermined number (n) of time slots (TS[j]), j={(0, . . .

  • Patent number: 6745032
Abstract: A method, a mobile communication system and a controller controlling the use of the radio resources of the mobile communication system, by means of which it is decided when the optimization of the lu link between a mobile switching centre and the controller is triggered. In the method, history data is maintained (204, 205, 206, 214) on the roaming of the mobile station, at least on condition triggering the link optimization is set based on the history data, a check is made in response to updating the history data to see if the condition is fulfilled (207), and if the condition is fulfilled, the link optimization is triggered (208,209,210).

  • Publication number: 20030222899
Abstract: This invention relates to creating a multimedia show. A multimedia mobile terminal acts as a control panel for creating the multimedia show. The actual work for making the multimedia show is made in an editor tool, preferably in a server of a communication network. When the user of the multimedia mobile terminal desires to create a multimedia show, he may ask for templates or a certain template for the show from the server. The server sends the requested template to the mobile terminal. The user can select content components into the template that is the structure of the multimedia show. The content components are according to the template, for example, video clips, audio clips, text, images or another content type, When the content components are defined, the references to the content components and the template are sent from the mobile terminal to the server, for the editor tool to create the show.

  • Patent number: 6650655
Abstract: The idea of the invention is the allocation of transmission resources in several separate steps. In the first step, the available transmission resources are dynamically divided between the different networks. In the second step, the networks divide the resources that have been allocated for their use among their users by their own channel allocation methods. In one embodiment, a given minimum capacity wherewith the network achieves a predetermined minimum quality of service is permanently allocated to some or all of the networks. As the capacity requirement increases, the necessary amount of additional capacity is allocated to the operator in excess of this minimum capacity. The additional capacity is then allocated either from resources separately reserved for this purpose that are common to the networks, or by borrowing it from capacity that is allocated to another network but falls outside the minimum capacity of said network.

  • Patent number: 5561840
Abstract: A method for location updating in a cellular radio network. The network stores subscriber data permanently in a home location register (HLR) and temporarily in visitor location registers (VLR) integrated with mobile services switching centers (MSC). In connection with a call setup, the HLR requests the VLR to provide routing information for the subscriber, whereafter the inbound call is routed to the pertinent MSC and the subscriber is paged by the radio path. The network updates the location of the subscriber by check paging performed as a background run at suitable times.

  • Patent number: 5337344
Abstract: The invention relates to a telecommunication system and a method for matching the numbering schemes of telecommunication systems. The telecommunication system comprises a transmission network comprising at least one mobile exchange (MSC1, MSC2) associated with a subsystem (BUC, BU1-BU6), the calls of subscribers (MT1-MT6) in the subsystem being routed through the transmission network and the mobile exchange. A numbering scheme of the subsystem comprises an X-bit binary subscriber identity code (PID) and a numbering scheme of the transmission network comprises a Y-decimal subscriber identity code (MSIN). In the transmission network the subscriber (MT1-MT6) of the subsystem is assigned a Y-decimal identity code comprising a decimal number derived from the X-bit binary identity code of the subscriber and having no more than Y-1 decimals.
