  • Patent number: 6183107
Abstract: A multi-lamp assembly for a lighting strip includes an elongated housing from which a plurality of spaced lamp contact housings extend. Each lamp contact housing includes at least one opening that receives the free upper end of an electrical contact mounted at its lower end to a printed circuit board that is received within the interior of the elongated housing. The contacts of series-connected lamps are inserted into the openings of adjacent lamp contact housings, thereby to engage a pair of the electrical contacts therein.

  • Patent number: 6079992
Abstract: An adapter is disclosed which allows the secure installation of a lighting fixture to a lighting track and which lies flush with the face of the track in its locked condition. The adapter includes a pair of wing-like pull down levers pivotably mounted to a base. A resilient retention member is engaged by cam walls extending from the lever so that when the lever is pivoted to a flush, locking position the resilient members are moved transversely outwardly and become wedged against the inner walls of the lighting track, thereby to secure the adapter to the track. The lighting fixture can be locked in a desired horizontal and vertical orientation by the operation of a single actuator arm.

  • Patent number: 6022130
Abstract: A track lighting fixture includes a receptacle that can be used with a wide variety of lamp enclosures of different configurations and sizes. The fixture includes an L-shaped bracket adapted to be pivotably mounted by means of a stem to a track. The fixture further includes a lamp socket in its interior and a docking bulkhead that includes a bayonet mount which receives a mating bayonet mount in the lamp enclosure. In another aspect of the invention, an opening is provided in the L-shaped bracket through which the end of a hand-held pole may be inserted to engage the fixture, so that by manipulation of the pole the angle and horizontal attitude of the fixture can be accurately adjusted by an individual from the floor without the need for that individual to risk injury by standing on a chair or ladder.

  • Patent number: 5273452
Abstract: A lighting system comprising a power jack, a first or second type plug connector and luminaire assembly. The power jack is adapted to receive either a first or second type plug connector. The luminaire assembly includes a lamp socket subassembly, and a globe subassembly. The lamp socket subassembly comprises a lamp socket which is supported by a lamp socket support housing which bears a plurality of lamp socket support projections. The globe subassembly includes a globe, a globe support housing with engaging projections and a globe retaining element. The lamp socket support housing is adapted to be received within a portion of the globe support housing and interconnected by engagement of the lamp socket support projections with the engaging projections. In the engaged configuration, air-flow channels are formed between the housings. Air-flow passages are also formed between the globe and the globe support housing when interconnected by retaining element.

  • Patent number: 5149282
Abstract: A specific, illustrative modular stem system for lighting apparatus comprising hollow stems, each having first and second ends; a connector plug mounted at the first end; an in-line connector mounted inside the stem adjacent to the second end, the connector being configured for receiving the plug of another stem so as to permit connection of the stems end to end; a flexible joint so as to permit flexure of the stem upon the application of lateral forces to the stem system, means for dually securing the connector to the stem and the plug to the connector so as to facilitate connection of the stems end to end; and a lamp adjacent to the second end of the lowermost stem.
