Abstract: Embodiments of a system for determining a data gravity index score and implementing pervasive data center architecture is disclosed. In some embodiments, the system can calculate a data gravity index score based on the amount of data stored in a given location, an amount of data in motion in the given location, a bandwidth index associated with the given location, and a latency index associated with the given location. Based on data gravity index scores, in some embodiments, the system can localize traffic to improve network performance, improve security operations, and generate software-defined-network overlay.

Abstract: A bulk superconductor device is disclosed, comprising a single grain RE-BCO element incorporating reinforcing fibres. The single grain (RE)BCO element comprises RE-211 pinning sites disposed in a RE-123 matrix and further comprises Ag. The reinforcing fibres comprise a ceramic such as SiC and a refractory metal such as W. The reinforcing fibres comprise a core formed of the refractory metal and a ceramic cladding surrounding the core. The device may be manufactured by a top seeded melt growth process or by a top seeded infiltration growth process.

The membranes have small pores and are suitable for sterilization by exposure to gamma radiation. The membranes can be made by methods that involve one or more of stretching the membrane and grafting hydrophobic monomers onto the membrane surface. A perfluorinated monomer, such as perfluoro-n-octyl acrylate, can be grafted to one or more surfaces of the membrane. The membrane have a high flow rate compared to unstretched or ungrafted membranes.

Abstract: A toilet installation tool for assisting an installer in aligning a toilet mounting hole in a base of a toilet with a closet bolt projecting upward from a bathroom floor includes a sleeve configured to removably mount on the closet bolt in alignment with a vertical axis of the closet bolt, and a light source attached to a top end of the sleeve. The sleeve and the light source are sized to pass through the toilet mounting hole and are removable from the closet bolt after a toilet has been lowered onto the bathroom floor. The invention may be embodied as a kit having two light sources and two or more interchangeable sleeves of different lengths. A method of mounting a toilet on a pair of closet bolts using the toilet installation tool is also disclosed.

Abstract: Protection against security attacks involves monitoring network traffic for a computing device security attack and determining whether there is a security event, using one or more network based security tools. Next, it is determined whether an event pattern involving two or more security events meets a predetermined criteria. Upon determining that there is a security attack, corrective action is tailored, based on the type of the computing device, the operating system of the computing device, the type of security attack, and/or the available protection tools. A course of action is performed depending on whether an account of the computing device includes a security protection service. If there is a security protection service, a message is sent over a secure link to the computing device. This message includes the corrective action to cure the computing device from the security attack.

Abstract: Information is provided to a mobile device while reducing the number of traffic channels established over a predetermined time period. A pull client on a mobile device receives requests for information from applications on the mobile device. The pull client creates a timing list which includes the timing requirements for each application. Applications that have overlapping timing requirements are grouped together into the same timing group. Once the time for creating a traffic channel for one of the groups arrives, a traffic channel is created between the mobile device and a carrier gateway. Information for each respective application within the same timing group is obtained through the network using the same traffic channel. When the requested information is provided to all applications within the same timing group, the traffic channel is released after a predetermined time. The method is repeated for a next timing group entry.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to shaped ophthalmic lenses and methods for providing such lenses, including non-powered lenses having non-quadratic surfaces of complementary curvature. Such lenses may have a curvature maximum away from an axis of symmetry and a substantially constant wall thickness. Equations describing and methods of designing such lenses are disclosed including embodiments where two spheres of substantially different curvature are merged in accordance with a weighting function, and adjusted using merit functions.
