  • Patent number: 8627871
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a sliding overhead door operator system for an overhead door not employing a counterbalance mechanism. The operator system comprises an overhead door including first and second side edges, the door includes a plurality of hingedly connected longitudinally extending panels. Additionally, a first rodless cylinder is located adjacent the first side edge of the door and a second rodless cylinder is located adjacent the second side edge of the door. Each of the first and second cylinders includes a carriage. First and second bracket assemblies are provided such that each assembly includes a first portion secured to a respective carriage of one of the first and second rodless cylinders and a second portion secured to one of the plurality of panels. A controller is adapted to actuate the first and second rodless cylinders to move the door up and down.

  • Publication number: 20090025334
Abstract: A sectional door includes a plurality of panels. Each panel can include two or more plies which can be made of thermally compatible material. A panel of such sectional door includes an outer ply including a thermoplastic material and a sash frame including a thermoplastic material. The outer ply forms an outer face of the door. The sash frame is secured to the outer ply. The outer ply and the sash frame include thermoplastic materials which have substantially the same rate of thermal expansion. A desired design can be formed in the outer face of the door.

  • Patent number: 6363993
Abstract: A pivoting bracket for connecting adjacent panels of an articulated door. The pivoting bracket has a generally cylindrical base and an arm rigidly connected to and extending from the base. The arm has a mounting face on a base side which is generally parallel to a tangent to the base. A recess extends into at least one end of the base, generally co-axially therewith, for receiving a guidewheel shaft. The pivoting bracket interacts with adjacent articulated door panels to mount the panels to a guide track and allow articulated movement without requiring or modifying a conventional hinge. The arm has a first part proximal the base and a second part distal the base. The second part is securable to an upper articulated door panel. The base extends into a channel provided on a rearward face of a lower articulated panel. The base of the arm pivots and interlocks itself relative to the channel while the door articulates.
