Abstract: An improved weft yarn control for shuttleless looms in which, as the loom reed beats the inserted weft yarn toward the fabric fell, the trailing portion of the weft yarn is caused to first move forwardly and upwardly into engagement with a stationary clamping device operated in accordance with a prescribed timed sequence. As the trailing weft yarn portion continues its forward movement, it engages a stationary yarn severing device which severs the trailing weft yarn portion from the inserted portion at or near the edge of the fabric fell. The severed trailing portion is then maintained in the path of the yarn insertion device as it moves inwardly on its next pick, whereupon it is seated therein and the timed clamping device released.

Abstract: An improved weft yarn insertion carrier made entirely of non-cast components which includes an elongated main body made up of horizontal and vertical webs, flexible gripper means attached to the vertical web of the main body and means for adjusting the gripping pressure exerted between the flexible gripper and the main body portion.

Abstract: A weft extending carrier for shuttleless looms adapted to insert single picks of weft into separate sheds formed by warp threads. The carrier is provided with an elongated weft finger one end of which is pivotally supported in the trailing end of the carrier and the opposite end defines a weft engaging recess or retaining hook that is biased in a direction to continuously urge the latter into a pocket formed in the leading end of the carrier. The retaining hook, in timed sequence with the weaving cycle is cammed outwardly from the pocket to release the pick of weft held thereby and provides a carrier which can accommodate a wider range of different types of weft than has been heretofor possible as well as providing a self cleaning feature that prevents the accumulation of lint in the gripping area of the carrier.

Abstract: An improved carrier for use on a shuttleless loom of the type in which yarn is inserted into the warp shed from a stationary source located outside of the warp and in which yarn is guided by means of cooperating yarn guide surfaces located in the back wall of the carrier, which yarn guide surfaces are laterally offset with respect to each other in a direction transverse to the direction of carrier travel and which vertically overlap each other in a direction normal to the direction of travel of the carrier.
