Publication number: 20220026380Abstract: The present invention provides a method for detecting synthetic indole and indazole cannabinoids in a sample known or suspected to contain a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid. A deuterated solvent is added to the solid sample, creating a suspension. The suspension is mixed to release the cannabinoid from the solid sample. The suspension is subject to a NMR spectroscopy process to produce a sample NMR spectrum. The synthetic cannabinoid is detected in the suspension by analysis of the sample NMR spectrum. When one-dimensional proton NMR is used, detection of a first peak between 8.00 and 8.50 ppm and a second peak between 4.00 and 4.40 ppm, indicates the presence of a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid. When two-dimensional Correlation Spectroscopy (COSY) NMR is used, detection of a first spot between 6.50 and 9.00 ppm and a second spot between 1.50 and 4.50 ppm indicates the presence of a synthetic indole or indazole cannabinoid.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2021Publication date: January 27, 2022Applicant: HOFSTRA UNIVERSITYInventors: Ling HUANG, Michael Anthony MARINO, Brandy VOYER

Patent number: 8100402Abstract: A collectable card game of strategy and skill that includes a plurality of collectable cards, each of which preferably comprise a character-specific collectable card. Each collectable card corresponds to a character and contains character specific information regarding the character, including attributes and capabilities of the character such as offensive and defensive characteristics and assigned values. Each collectable card is adaptable from a generally flat configuration to a folded configuration generally in the form of a “fortune teller” novelty piece that functions during play as a functional game piece. Once each player has configured his collectable card into the game piece configuration, the players engage in a battle that consists of a series of rounds. During each round, the players engage in a series of alternating offensive strikes and mitigating defensive plays, the combined net score of which is then deducted from a predetermined “life force” value assigned with each character card.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2008Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Inventors: Emanuel Salomon, Anthony Marino

Patent number: 6259862Abstract: A camera auxiliary light system provides supplemental illumination for a passive ranging system in determining camera-to-object distance, provides a self-timer activation status light to persons in a scene, provides a point of visible light to assist in aiming the camera, and provides red-eye reduction illumination. Thus, multiple functions are performed by a single auxiliary light, thereby reducing the number of camera elements and reducing camera cost, size, and weight. The system includes an auxiliary light source, a mode control switch that selects between a self-timer mode, a red-eye reduction mode, and a flash defeat mode, a light sensor that receives light from the scene and produces a signal that indicates the relative amount of light that was received, and a light source controller that controls operation of the auxiliary light source in response to actuation of a shutter release of the camera.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1997Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: John Anthony Marino, James Vergil Leavy

Patent number: 5077700Abstract: The velocity of a vessel is determined in real time by a doppler sonar sym providing acoustic beams wherein received beams provide a plurality of bins or returns from various depth segments. The frequency shift with respect to at least two different bins is determined. The velocity of the vessel with respect to each bin is determined according to the phase shift of the respective bin. The vessel velocity is determined as an average of the determined velocities of the bins along the acoustic beam. The acoustic beams are paired to form beam pairs wherein each bin in one beam of the beam pair has a corresponding bin in the other beam of the beam pair. The phase shifts of the corresponding bins are used to determine a relative frequency shift for the corresponding bins. This determination is made along the length of the beams of the beam pair and averaged. The averaged resolved ship doppler profiler velocity when compared to inertial velocities determines water current velocities.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Peter T. Patent number: 4308231Abstract: An optical timing and A/D conversion method and apparatus for converting analog signals obtained by movement of a plurality of reaction vessels relative to one or more beams of light from analog to digital signals. The sample signals are obtained each time a reaction vessel passes through a beam of light. The converted digital signals indicate the absorbance of the respective vessels and their contents. Each of the reaction vessels or cuvettes has translucent wall portions providing a radiation path therethrough for the light beams which may be monitored by photometer means in a chemical reaction analyzer. The vessels are repeatedly passed through the light beams of the photometer means as chemical reactions take place therein, the purpose being to monitor the changes in the reaction of the fluids therein by measuring the changes in the absorbance of the vessel and fluids.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1980Date of Patent: December 29, 1981Assignee: Coulter Electronics, Inc.Inventors: Steven N.
