  • Patent number: 11946740
Abstract: A coating thickness measuring instrument comprising: a magnetic induction probe comprising at least one drive coil and at least one pick-up coil; a driver for driving an alternating current in the or each drive coil; and a detector for detecting the output of the or each pick-up coil; and a processor configured to: apply a transfer function to the detector output to produce an output which corresponds to a measured coating thickness; and, scale both the drive current and detector output simultaneously in response to the output. The scaling may be changed in a step-wise manner. The scaling applied to the drive current may be inversely proportional to the scaling applied to the detector output. The scaling may be defined by a first and second scaling factor, stored as a pair. The instrument may store two or more pairs of scaling factors and select a pair in response to the measured coating thickness.

  • Patent number: 11920193
Abstract: Methods of characterizing an analyte using a detector such as a nanopore and an enzyme are provided. One aspect features methods for characterizing a double-stranded polynucleotide using a detector, e.g., without using a hairpin connecting a template and a complement of the double-stranded polynucleotide. Another aspect features methods for characterizing an analyte using a tag-modified nanopore with increased sensitivity and/or higher throughput. Compositions and systems including, e.g., adaptors for attachment to double-stranded polynucleotides and tag-modified nanopores, which can be used in the methods are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170118221
Abstract: A scalable access filter that is used together with others like it in a virtual private network to control access by users at clients in the network to information resources provided by servers in the network. Each access filter uses a local copy of an access control data base to determine whether an access request is made by a user. Each user belongs to one or more user groups and each information resource belongs to one or more information sets. Access is permitted or denied according to access policies which define access in terms of the user groups and information sets. The first access filter in the path performs the access check, encrypts and authenticates the request; the other access filters in the path do not repeat the access check. The interface used by applications to determine whether a user has access to an entity is now an SQL entity. The policy server assembles the information needed for the response to the query from various information sources, including source external to the policy server.

  • Publication number: 20090037332
Abstract: A system and method for providing an efficient and robust interface that allows banking transactions to be processed by an online banking system and third party accounting software packages via a single user point of entry. The system is configured to receive a transaction request from a third party accounting software, the transaction request including one or more transactions; verify, based on information stored in a first database, that the transaction request is from a valid source; store information regarding the one or more transactions from the transaction request in a second database; process the one or more transactions; and provide a response to the third party accounting software indicating a status of at least one transaction in the transaction request.

  • Publication number: 20040252688
Abstract: Methods and apparatus (4.1-4.4) for the efficient transport and routing of packets over frame-based networks are disclosed. Groups of packets are encapsulated inside of frames (4.7, 4.8) and the frames (4.7, 4.8) are transported over a multiple-access network. Each frame (4.7, 4.8) contains one or more destination addresses. Unicast, multicast, and broadcast are supported.
