  • Patent number: 10430355
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes setting a respective flag in a first buffer of a hardware accelerator. The first buffer includes the respective flag of the first buffer, and a second buffer of the hardware accelerator includes a respective flag of the second buffer. A hardware state of the hardware accelerator is maintained in the first buffer, based on the respective flag of the first buffer being set. A first request directed to the hardware accelerator is received. It is determined that that the first buffer has the respective flag set. The first request is passed to the hardware accelerator, where passing the first request includes passing to the hardware accelerator a pointer to the first buffer, based on the first buffer having the respective flag set.

  • Patent number: 10374629
Abstract: A computer system includes a host system that runs an application. The application outputs a compression request to compress a data stream having an initial data-representation size, and which includes a plurality of individual data chunks. A hardware controller compresses the plurality of individual data chunks according to different encodings based on a compression ratio of each of the individual data chunks to generate a compressed data stream having a reduced data-representation size with respect to the initial data-representation size.

Abstract: A method for obtaining and storing monitoring information. The method includes one or more computer processors generating a plurality of data records, based at least in part on a configuration for generating information, wherein the plurality of data records includes a first data record. The method further includes determining that a configuration for analyzing information dictates an analysis of at least a one data record, wherein the at least one data record includes a second data record. The method further includes determining that the plurality of data records do not include the second data record. The method further includes modifying the configuration for generating information to include generating the second data record. The method further includes generating an updated plurality of data records based on the modified configuration for generating information, wherein the updated plurality of data records includes the first data record and the second data record.

  • Patent number: 10333548
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are described for performing data compression in a manner that does not require software to make a call to hardware to close a compressed data block, thereby reducing computational overhead. In response to a request from software to data compression hardware for a data encoding, the hardware may return the data encoding as well as an end-of-block symbol encoding value and bit length. The hardware may load the end-of-block symbol encoding value and bit length into a different area in the returned structure such that the software has direct access to the value. When the software determines that a block should be closed, the software may retrieve the end-of-block symbol and insert it into the block without needing to make a call to hardware. The software may then make a call to the hardware to request a new data encoding for subsequent compressed data blocks.

  • Publication number: 20190146928
Abstract: A computer program product for optimizing page table manipulations is provided and includes a computer readable storage medium having program instructions that are readable and executable by a processing circuit to cause the processing circuit to create and maintain a translation table with a translation look-aside buffer (TLB) disposed to cache priority translations, update the translation table upon de-registration of a DMA address, allocate entries in the translation table from low to high memory addresses during memory registration, maintain a cursor for identifying where to search for available entries upon performance of a new registration, advance the cursor from entry-to-entry in the translation table and wrap the cursor from an end of the translation table to a beginning of the translation table and issue a synchronous TLB invalidation instruction to invalidate the TLB upon at least one wrapping and an entry being identified and updated.

  • Patent number: 10223030
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes writing, by a producer, data to one or more buffers. The one or more buffers include a plurality of cells and together form a circular buffer, and an input cursor indicates which cell of the plurality of cells the producer writes to. The method further includes reading, by a consumer, data from the one or more buffers, where an output cursor indicates which cell of the plurality of cells the consumer reads from. It is detected that the consumer is overrun by the producer. A throughput of the consumer is compared to a throughput of the producer, responsive to detecting that the consumer is overrun by the producer. The output cursor is synchronized to a new position, by a computer processor, where the new position is selected based on comparing the throughput of the consumer to the throughput of the producer.
