  • Patent number: 10157116
Abstract: A method includes receiving samples of data over a time range from a start time to an end time, determining a mean/median of the data samples within a historic time window, and determining a mean/median of the data samples within a recent time window. The method also includes determining a data sample delta based on a difference between the mean/median of the data samples within the recent time window and the mean/median of the data samples within the historic time window. The method also includes determining whether the data sample delta exceeds a delta tolerance, and when the data sample delta exceeds the delta tolerance, determining a regression in performance. The method also includes transmitting a regression alert to a user device. The user device is configured to notify a user associated with the user device of the regression in performance.

  • Patent number: 8504942
Abstract: The performance of service tasks on behalf of individuals (such as clients) among agents in a service industry, such as a home healthcare services industry or a lodging service industry, may be difficult due to the quantity, variety, and details of such service tasks. A service task facilitator device may be devised that facilitates the performance of service tasks by such agents in a convenient manner. A service task coordinating system may also be devised for coordinating the performance of service tasks among such agents through the administration of such service task facilitator devices. The service task facilitator devices and coordinating system communicate with users (including agents) through a lexicon of icons of predominantly pictorial form chosen to describe the nature and details of the service tasks within the service industry. The use of a lexicon of pictorial icons facilitates such communication in an easily recognizable and language-independent manner.

  • Patent number: 8292832
Abstract: A health activity plan may be prescribed for an individual comprising a set of health activity instances (e.g., physical therapy exercises, an exercise regimen, or a wound management program.) The performed health activity instances of the individual may be tracked by a device, and may be presented to a user of the device in correlation with the health activity plan (e.g., to demonstrate compliance of the individual with the health activity plan.) The health activity information may be presented using a set of icons that depict the health activity information, which may improve an easier understanding and a more consistent communication of health activity information among the individual and healthcare providers.

  • Patent number: 8081064
Abstract: A device and method for facilitating compliance with a medication regimen may incorporate an icon set that illustrates concepts relating to the medication regimen in a pictographic form that is easily recognized and comprehended. The device is programmed with medication instructions, and generates medication reminders for the medication instructions by displaying icons from the icon set. The device may additionally display text, play audio, vibrate, send text messages to other devices, etc. The device may accept input from the individual and/or caregiver regarding the medication instructions or the medication events. The device may also contain the medication, control access and dosing of the medication, and administer the medication to the individual. The device may also communicate information regarding the medication regimen to the caregiver, such as prescription renewal requests.

  • Publication number: 20110163843
Abstract: A medication reminder device may be programmed with a set of medication instructions comprising a medication regimen to be presented to an individual in order to promote compliance with a medication regimen, and may also include one or more medication chambers, each containing the medication doses of medications specified by a medication instruction. However, compliance with the medication regimen may nevertheless be reduced if the individual accesses a medication chamber in contravention of the medication regimen (e.g., due to an accident, a misunderstanding, an intentional misuse of the medication, or theft). Compliance with the medication regimen may be further improved by including a medication chamber lock that restricts access to a medication chamber, and a medication chamber lock controller that locks or unlocks the medication chamber lock in order to permit or restrict access to the medication doses of the medication contained therein according to the medication instructions.

  • Publication number: 20110166698
Abstract: In healthcare scenarios, medication may be provided to an individual by a caregiver delivering a prescription to the individual or to a medication source (e.g., a pharmacist), the medication source providing the medication to the individual in a simple container, and the individual self-managing the medication. However, many opportunities for miscommunication, misunderstanding, or simple errors may arise in these human interactions, resulting in noncompliance with the medication regimen. Instead, the caregiver may provide the medication regimen to the medication source, who may (possibly with the assistance of automated processes) insert the medication into a medication reminder device that regulates the administration of medication doses according to the medication regimen, and send the medication reminder device to the individual.

  • Publication number: 20100125175
Abstract: A health condition record of an individual is often organized in a data-centric manner, such as various forms of medical data, medical images, and text-based anecdotal information provided by caregivers and the individual. However, it may be difficult to identify significant health condition events from such representations. A health condition record organized in an event-oriented manner may facilitate assessments of the diagnosis and prognosis of the individual, the efficacy of caregivers, and the allocation of healthcare resources. The event-oriented health condition record may also be presented to caregivers and the individual by displaying health-related icons, which may facilitate the communication of health information in a language-independent manner.

  • Publication number: 20090326334
Abstract: Health-related devices often record and represent health-related information describing a patient in many manners, and the disparities and variance among such representations may interfere with the accuracy of a recorded electronic medical record and with communication among healthcare providers. These aspects of health information representation and communication may be facilitated according to several techniques, such as by storing health information according to a standardized health information hierarchical classification scheme, and by presenting such information to healthcare providers and the user by displaying one or more icons of predominantly pictorial form that describe the health information in a language- and literacy-independent manner.

  • Publication number: 20090082636
Abstract: Correlational health diagnosis techniques are disclosed for diagnosing a health state of an individual based on one or more health indicators, including systems and methods related thereto. The techniques involve a diagnostic database comprising at least one correlationally weighted relationship between a health indicator and a health diagnosis. The technique involves collecting at least one health indicator pertaining to the health-state of the individual, and the health indicators may be displayed as icons of predominantly pictorial form. Once at least one health indicator has been collected, the techniques involve summing the correlational weights of each health diagnosis in the diagnostic database for each collected health indicator, and selecting and outputting at least one health diagnosis having the greatest aggregate diagnostic weight. The techniques may also involve selecting one or more health treatments related to each selected health diagnosis.

  • Publication number: 20050049122
Abstract: A dual purpose physical rehabilitation orthopedic and physical fitness exercise device for use within physical therapy facilities. The rehabilitation and exercise device includes a frame hosting a hydraulic or pneumatic system means for applying variable levels of resistance for specified exercise regimens; an activating assembly including a torsion bar, indexed platen, exercise arm assembly and a lever to act against hydraulic/pneumatic pressurized cylinders. The exercise arm assembly includes equally spaced ports and locking pins to allow altering the active length of the arm. Further, the platen contains ports, radially positioned around its facial surface to permit adjusting the angular displacement of the exercise arm through 90° either side of the horizontal. The platen also has inscribed degree indexes to define angular displacement from preset azimuth during the exercise routine.
