  • Publication number: 20140116170
Abstract: An in-line shift bevel gear forward/reverse mechanism comprises bevel gears, a locking device for forward drive and a stop means for reverse drive. The locking device includes a female spline mounted to a differential unit and a male spline mounted to a flanged hub which is slidably mounted on an input shaft of the mechanism and locks the input shaft to the differential unit for forward drive. The differential unit is automatically unlocked when linkage means actuates a stop means for the differential unit and stops the differential unit from rotating for reverse drive. The mechanism also provides a neutral.

  • Patent number: 6387007
Abstract: A high output transmission comprising a planetary drive with input driven by an electric motor, arranged as a variable speed translator to deliver power and speed to the wheels of the vehicle, with vehicle movement being controlled by automatically increasing and decreasing gear ratios in cooperation with variations in electric motor speed and comprising a generator arranged to provide regenerative power to the power supply during automatic imposition of scheduled resistance of rotation which enables change in output gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 6056662
Abstract: A high output transmission is made for increasing speed and torque from an engine or motor. It includes a planetary drive for gradually increasing speed output, a speed reducer for increasing torque output, and a friction brake which gradually slows and stops a wheel member of the planetary drive. The planetary drive wheel member is gradually slowed and stopped so that the planetary drive input to output speed ratio is increased starting from a 1 to 1 speed ratio. As the braking force is gradually increased power output is transmitted starting with a slow speed with high torque to a fast speed with lower torque and when the braking force is decreased power output resumes to a slow speed with high torque while the engine or motor can run at a set or constant speed. A clutch means is included in the transmission by the on/off action of the brake thereby providing a clutch and continuously variable transmission or CCVT.

  • Patent number: 5957803
Abstract: The invention comprises a simple and efficient transmission for varying speed and engagement of power, comprising a planetary drive with input means driven by a prime mover's output, scheduled friction clutch means for gradually slowing and stopping rotation of an idler wheel member of the planetary drive so that as the force of the clutch is increased, power is automatically transferred from the idler wheel member to the output of the planetary drive, starting with a slow speed with high torque to a fast speed with lower torque by scheduled increments which enable rotation of the output shaft, under load resistance, without prime mover stall.

  • Patent number: 5796225
Abstract: The present invention utilizes batteries in series addition and through controlled switching maintains current and voltage more constant as the batteries power a consuming device. The invention is described in its application to an electric motor powered wheeled vehicle and includes sensing means at the vehicles accelerator pedal and computer control to automatically control the power from a battery storage system to the electric motor efficiently and extend longevity of a battery powered vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5584774
Abstract: A planetary drive is made which is a friction or gear-less type of planetary drive. It includes at least three wheel members with each wheel member having circum-bevels. The wheel member shafts are parallel with one another and the wheel members have only slight bevels so that a wedging action is created between the members and together with coil spring pressure a solid driving action is created.

  • Patent number: 5501304
Abstract: The invention is a device which holds a brake band and provides a simple levered actuating force. One end of the band of a brake is mounted to a U-shaped bracket. Slots are provided for the U-shaped bracket so that a lever, which connects to the opposite end of the brake band, can pivot on the bottoms of the slots and pull the brake band tightly around the brake drum and so providing a powerful brake.

  • Patent number: 5495905
Abstract: A front wheel drive motor vehicle is made having a strong, light weight, and attractive arrow-like body made with steel square tubing. Easily removable and replaceable plastic panel inserts complete the body. Vehicle entry is step in style by rolling back the top. The top is also easily removable to make it a convertible type vehicle. The vehicles front wheels are driven through a bevel gear drive which provides a narrow wheel track and drives both front wheels simultaneously. Suspension and steering along with drive support is through a pair of special U-shaped springs. The U-shaped springs also provide a semi-independent front suspension. The vehicle has a wide rear wheel track for stability.

  • Patent number: 5394764
Abstract: A bevel gear forward/reverse mechanism comprises bevel gears, a locking device for forward drive and a band brake for reverse drive. The locking device includes tapered pins mounted to a flanged hub which is slidably mounted on an input shaft of a differential unit and locks the input shaft to the differential unit for forward drive. The differential unit is unlocked when the band brake stops the differential unit from rotating for reverse drive. This mechanism also provides a neutral and a drive shaft brake.

  • Patent number: 3991652
Abstract: An educational device for teaching the principles of numerical control includes a machine tool having three-axis movement with a predetermined fixed rate of movement along each axis. A control tape is driven at a predetermined fixed rate which is faster than the machine rate and contains seven control channels, two for each machine axis and an "off" channel for stopping all movements along each of the three axes. Numerical control programming is effected by punching holes in the relevant tape channels to initiate movements along the axes and terminating such movements by punching holes in the "off" channel. The distances between movement-initiating holes and "off" holes controls machine movement along the axes.
