  • Patent number: 11077784
Abstract: The invention relates to a component group for a vehicle body, having a headlamp housing, which has at least one connecting portion integrally formed in one piece for connection to an adjoining body part, and a predetermined breaking point for separation of the connecting portion from a neighboring portion. To minimize both the repair costs in the event of a collision at low speed in the region of the headlamp and also the costs for production and assembly, it is provided according to the invention that the neighboring portion has connecting structures for connection to a joining part with which the connecting portion is replaceable after its separation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 2018
Date of Patent: August 3, 2021
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Christoph Kueppers, Martin Otto Alfred Konrad, Antje Sipido
  • Patent number: 10807559
Abstract: A pedestrian protection apparatus for a motor vehicle front end has a leg-contacting segment which, in a pre-impact position, is arranged completely above an approach plane of the vehicle (which is defined by way of a front approach angle of the motor vehicle), and can be adjusted into a post-impact position by means of a force deflecting apparatus by way of at least proportionally vertical deflection of an impact force which acts along the longitudinal direction. In a post-impact position, the contact segment is arranged at least partially below the approach plane and lower than a bumper crossmember.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 2018
Date of Patent: October 20, 2020
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Antje Sipido, Monika Teodorescu, Susanne Spaetgens, Joergen Hilmann, Tobias Duffe

  • Patent number: 9302610
Abstract: A headlight for motor vehicles including a box-shaped housing, a light unit arranged in the housing, a front pane sealing the housing to the front relative to the direction of travel, and mountings provided on the housing for connecting the housing to the vehicle. Impact protection is provided by a rupture device that has at least one flexurally sensitive region of reduced wall thickness in the wall of the housing. The flexurally sensitive region at least partially extends transversely to the direction of the possible impact loading. A rupture element supported against the vehicle structure is provided on at least one point of the flexurally sensitive region. A targeted continuous rupturing of the flexurally sensitive region is provided by the rupture element in an impact with an unprotected road user.
