  • Patent number: 7776601
Abstract: The invention concerns a method which consists in determining ageing an ageing index of a blood bag (11, 62), to determine whether the blood bag is or not suitable for transfusion to a patient. The ageing index is calculated by connecting a silicon chip provided with a loop antenna integral with the blood bag (11, 62) with an electronic communication device (2, 8, 17, 12, 20, 24), itself equipped with a loop antenna, connected to a computer (9, 13) containing appropriate computing software elements. Said ageing index is regularly calculated at the blood transfusion center (16) from the sample (1), until it is removed from storage (7) to be sent to the health-care institution (18) and to the operating theatre (19).

  • Patent number: 7575936
Abstract: Method for enhancing the reliability of the traceability of blood samples resulting from collection of whole blood in a mother blood bag using sampling kits, whose contents vary depending on the blood products needed and statutory regulations, and which are mainly composed of bags connected to each other by tubes and incorporating at least one filtration unit. Each bag includes an electronic chip capable of memorising and exchanging information with an electronic communication device. This abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification, nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 7209045
Abstract: Method of monitoring a blood bag, the method including monitoring a maximum allowed time dT that the blood bag may be kept outside a controlled-atmosphere enclosure and an expiration date stored in an electronic chip fixed to the blood bag. The method further including indicating whether the blood bag may be transfused to a patient when the time dT and the expiration date have not expired. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

  • Patent number: 6482287
Abstract: According to this process for inclusion of a thin electronic label (1) with a flat face, at a predetermined depth in the wall of a molded item made of plastic material (15) at a predetermined temperature and pressure, the flat face of the label (1) is first attached to a support (5) made of a plastic material, with a thickness essentially equal to the desired inclusion depth, the support (5) is attached to the wall (13) of the mold, then the plastic molding material (15) is brought into the mold (13, 14) at said pressure and temperature so that an intimate bond is formed by melting in the region of contact (8, 9, 10, 16) between the two plastic materials at the time of molding.
