  • Patent number: 7839184
Abstract: A current driver system and method for generating one or more independent current signals for controlling or driving an external device. In one embodiment the system includes a programmable controller having both serial and parallel interfaces, and controls six independent current driver channels. Each current driver channel may form a dual stage channel that generates two different level current signals. Each current driver channel may include an overcurrent monitoring circuit as well as a loop back subsystem, where the loop back subsystem generates a signal that the programmable controller, and thus an external device in communication with the controller, can use to verify that proper communication is occurring between the controller and the current driver channel. The controller also synchronizes the turn on and turn off points for each current signal to a master system clock.

Date of Patent: November 23, 2010
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Gregory H. Smith, Robert N. Bassett, Anton B. Monge, John J. Bollinger

  • Patent number: 7114371
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting an intrusion of an environmental substance into an environmentally sealed electronic components package. The electronic components package generally includes a plastic coated or plastic enclosed electronic component, that includes a printed circuit board and/or integrated circuits. The intrusion of the environmental substance into the electronic components package can be measured by one of a plurality of monitors. The monitors can detect the presence of the environmental substance and alert a user that a break in the seal of the electronic components package has occurred.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 12, 2004
Date of Patent: October 3, 2006
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
