  • Patent number: 8681996
Abstract: A method of asymmetric key wrapping in a system is disclosed. The method generally includes the steps of (A) transferring a shared key from a key storage to a cipher operation, wherein the cipher operation comprises a symmetric-key cipher utilizing a cipher key, (B) generating an encrypted key by encrypting a decrypted key with the cipher operation using the shared key as the cipher key in a wrap-encrypt mode and (C) presenting the encrypted key external to the system in the wrap-encrypt mode.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 2007
Date of Patent: March 25, 2014
    Assignee: LSI Corporation
    Inventor: Anton I. Sabev
  • Patent number: 8023644
Abstract: An architecture for a block cipher, where the architecture includes functional units that are logically reconfigurable so as to be able to both encrypt clear text into cipher text and decrypt cipher text into clear text using more than one block cipher mode based on at least one of advanced encryption standard and data encryption standard.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2007
Date of Patent: September 20, 2011
    Assignee: LSI Corporation
Inventors: Anatoli A. Bolotov, Mikhail I. Grinchuk, Lav D. Ivanovic, Paul G. Filseth, Anton I. Sabev
  • Patent number: 7978850
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a device containing a key is disclosed. The method generally includes the steps of (A) fabricating a chip comprising a random number generator, a nonvolatile memory and a circuit, (B) applying electrical power to the chip to cause the random number generator to generate a signal conveying a sequence of random numbers, (C) commanding the chip to program a first arbitrary value among the random numbers into the nonvolatile memory, wherein the device is configured such that the first arbitrary value as stored in the nonvolatile memory is unreadable from external to the device and (D) packaging the chip.
