  • Publication number: 20040026351
Abstract: A variable flow infant feeding assembly is designed so that a caregiver can select an optimal feeding flow rate without having to change nipples, as may be desired depending upon the age and appetite of the infant as well as the liquid that is being dispensed. Preferably, the assembly includes a baby bottle and a nipple member that has ventilation structure defined therein for permitting replacement air to enter the baby bottle during feeding. Retention structure such as a threaded ring member is provided for securing the nipple member to the baby bottle. Advantageously, variable restrictor structure is provided, preferably so as to be integral with the ring member, for selectively blocking at least a portion of the ventilation structure. By controlling the size of the opening through which replacement air flows into the baby bottle, the variable restrictor structure permits the feeding flow rate through the nipple member to be adjusted by a caregiver.

  • Patent number: 6030272
Abstract: Toys, e.g., swords, guns, shields, to be held in the hand of a user and manipulated/moved. The interior of each of the toys includes a gyroscope, which when operated creates considerable rotational momentum, tending to resist the movement of the toy by the user. This action enhances the user's fun. The toys include a molded plastic housing having a hollow interior portion and a hand-grip portion arranged to be grasped in the hand of a user to lift the toy and manipulate it in various orientations. The gyroscope is mounted within the housing, e.g., in the handle portion. An electric motor is provided for rotating the gyroscope. The motor is powered by a power supply, e.g., a battery pack, located within the housing. A manual, on-off switch is provided in the toys for enabling the electric power from the batteries to energize the motor. Plural lamps are also provided for illuminating portions of the toy when the manual, on-off switch is closed.

  • Patent number: 5600849
Abstract: The wrist guard can be secured to the hand and wrist by a single strap, to provide protection to the hand and wrist. A rigid palm pad, removably attached to the guard over the palm, protects against impact and abrasion. A relatively stiff or substantially rigid support member is removably attached to the guard on the back of the hand and wrist to prevent backward flexion of the hand while permitting forward flexion. The hand and back of the wrist remain exposed for breathability. A flexible strap across the back of the forearm cushions the arm from the support during a fall. The support member includes a flexible rim across the top, across the back of the hand, to cushion the hand from the support during a fall. The guard is modular in nature such that the guard can be used without the support member when less protection is required or when less bulk and weight is desired. The palm pad and support member can be removed to facilitate cleaning of the guard.

  • Patent number: 5518238
Abstract: A street or roller hockey puck that includes a plurality of rotational members that are supported in a ring configuration. The rotational members can be cylindrical wheels or spherical rollers. The preferred embodiment includes wheels each having an axis of rotation that is perpendicular to a plane that contains both the central axis of the ring configuration and a radius formed between the central axis and each wheel. An alternate embodiment includes spherical rollers that freely rotate within a housing and protrude through the circumferential side of the puck and at least through one of the top and bottom surfaces.
