  • Patent number: 4819706
Abstract: A travel lock system for use on retractable awnings incorporating a support arm and a rafter arm wherein the rafter arm is adapted to be moved into a channel provided in the support arm when the awning is retracted, includes a lock arm adapted, in a locking position, to extend across the channel in the support arm to retain the rafter arm therein and further includes a cam surface so that movement of the rafter arm into the channel when the travel lock is in its locking position will not damage the travel lock but will pivot the travel lock out of its locking position to permit the rafter arm to be moved into the support arm.

  • Patent number: 4819707
Abstract: A slide latch mechanism for use in a retractable awning wherein a rafter arm has one end adapted to slide along a support arm includes a pocket at the upper end of the support arm into which the slide member can be received to temporarily retain the slide member at the upper end of a support arm. The slide member retained in this manner, prevents an inadvertent collapse of the awning.

  • Patent number: 4658877
Abstract: An improved upper bracket is provided for a retractable awning of the type which includes a flexible cover sheet anchored along one edge to a vertical support surface with the opposite edge of the cover sheet being secured to a roll bar adapted to be moved toward and away from the supporting surface so that the awning can be retracted or extended respectively. The roll bar has a pair of support arms connected at opposite ends thereof which are adapted to support the roll bar at a pre-selected elevation from the horizontal surface and a pair of brace members extendable from an upper bracket to an associated end of the roll bar to hold the roll bar in an extended position spaced from the vertical support surface. A lower bracket is also mounted on the vertical support surface beneath the upper bracket and is adapted to retain the distal end of an associated brace member as well as a lower end of an associated support arm when the awning is in its retracted position.
