  • Patent number: 7716565
Abstract: A method and system for decoding video, voice, and/or speech data using redundancy and physical constraints are presented. Video, voice, and/or speech bit sequences may be decoded in a multilayer process based on a decoding algorithm and at least one physical constraint. For voice applications, the decoding algorithm may be based on the Viterbi algorithm. At least one estimated bit sequence may be selected by performing searches that start from trellis junctions determined during by the decoding algorithm. The estimated bit sequences may be selected based on corresponding redundancy verification parameters. At least one physical constraint test may be performed on the selected estimated bit sequences to select a decoded output bit sequence.

  • Patent number: 7706481
Abstract: A method and system for improving reception in wired and wireless systems through redundancy and iterative processing are provided. A multilayer decoding process may comprise a burst process and a frame process. Results from a first burst process may be utilized to generate a decoded bit sequence in the frame process. The frame process may utilize redundancy information and physical constraints to improve the performance of a decoding algorithm. Results from the frame process may be fed back for a second iteration of the burst process and of the frame process, to further improve the decoding operation. In some instances, the second iteration of the burst process may be based on a gradient search approach.

  • Patent number: 7643993
Abstract: A method and system for decoding WCDMA AMR speech data using redundancy may include generating at least one bit-sequence for at least one of a plurality of channels that comprises received WCDMA speech data. The bit-sequence may be generated by using a decoding algorithm and may be decrypted to recover the data that may have been encrypted before being transmitted. At least one bit-sequence may be selected for each of the channels by using redundancy, such as, for example, CRC, in the received WCDMA speech data. The redundancy in the received WCDMA speech data may be, for example, CRC. The bit-sequence for each of the channels may be combined to form at least one speech stream. A speech stream may be selected based on speech constraints, which may comprise gain continuity and/or pitch continuity. The selected speech stream may be communicated to a voice decoder.

  • Publication number: 20090276221
Abstract: A method and system for processing channel B data for AMR and/or WAMR may include generating one or more channel B data hypotheses for a present speech frame, if channel A data has a valid CRC and channel B data is unacceptable. Channel B data may be unacceptable, for example, due to high residual bit error rate and/or low Viterbi metric. Speech hypotheses may also be generated for the present speech frame, where each speech hypothesis may be based on a corresponding channel B data hypothesis and channel A data. A speech constraint metric may be assigned to each speech hypothesis that is compared to a previous frame speech data. The speech hypothesis that is closest to the previous frame speech data may be selected as a present speech data. The speech constraint metric may, for example, measure gain continuity and/or pitch continuity.

  • Publication number: 20090207899
Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-branch equalizer processing module operable to cancel interference associated with received radio frequency (RF) burst(s). This multi-branch equalizer processing module includes both a first equalizer processing branch and a second equalizer processing branch. The first equalizer processing branch is operable to be trained based upon known training sequences and equalize the received RF burst. This results in soft samples or decisions which in turn may be converted to data bits. The soft samples are processed with a de-interleaver and channel decoder, where the combination is operable to produce a decoded frame of data bits from the soft samples. A re-encoder may re-encode the decoded frame to produce re-encoded or at least partially re-encoded data bits. An interleaver then processes the at least partially re-encoded data bits to produce and at least partially re-encoded burst.

  • Publication number: 20090170439
Abstract: A processing module produces improved main channel estimate. This process involves initially estimating the channel impulse response. This result is based on and combined with a known sequences such as that provided by training sequences of the midamble within RF bursts. From this combination, it is possible to produce an estimated signal from a convolution of the channel impulse response and midamble. The estimated signal may be cancelled or subtracted from the received signal to produce a clearer image of the disturber signal. A blind data recovery performed upon the disturber signal. The recovered disturber data may be used as a reference for disturber channel estimation in order to produce a disturber channel impulse response. With the estimated disturber channel impulse response and the recovered disturber data, an estimated disturber signal may be reconstructed and subtracted from the received signal. This allows the cancellation of the estimated disturber signal.

  • Patent number: 7533327
Abstract: A system and method for Bluetooth® decoding is disclosed and may include calculating a remainder value based on a received bit sequence and a generator polynomial for a corresponding transmitted Bluetooth bit sequence. Remainders may be generated from known error vectors and the generator polynomial. The generated remainders may result in at least a portion of the known error vectors corresponding to the generator polynomial. A codeword may be selected that may correspond to the calculated reminder value that matches one of the generated remainders. The generated remainders may be stored in a look-up table. An initial metric value may be calculated utilizing the following equation: M 0 = ? n = 0 14 ? ? abs ? ( RX ? ( n ) ) , where RX(n) may include the received bit sequence. The codeword with a metric value equal to M0 may be selected, if the calculated remainder value is equal to 0.

  • Publication number: 20090097532
Abstract: A method for successive interference cancellation in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is provided that uses variable interferer weights. This method allows interfering signals to be cancelled in order to recover a transmitted data signal. This method involves receiving the data signal subject to interference from at least one interfering signal. A first interfering signal is identified. Then an interferer weight coefficient associated with the first interfering signal is generated. This allows the first interfering signal to be cancelled from the received data signal using the interferer weight coefficient. These processes may then be reiterated for other interfering signals. It is then possible to recover the transmitted data signal from the received data signal.

  • Patent number: 7505513
Abstract: This invention provides colored noise detection algorithm(s). This colored noise detection algorithm(s) may be implemented with a multi-branch equalizer processing module that enables interference cancellation when colored noise is associated with received radio frequency (RF) bursts. The noise discriminator identifies when the radio frequency (RF) bursts have white noise or colored noise associated with them. Alternatively the noise discriminator may be able to determine and enable interference cancellation in response to an interference-limited received RF burst as opposed to a noise-limited received RF burst. The multi-branch equalizer improves the signal-to-noise ratio by improving the equalization with a second branch operable to be trained based upon known training sequences and at least partially re-encoded data bits.

  • Publication number: 20090067550
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for redundancy-based decoding of audio content are provided. A redundancy parameter may be generated for verifying a decoded bit sequence that comprises audio content, such as a decoded audio frame. The redundancy parameter may be a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value and/or a length of frame value associated with the decoded audio frame. Information associated with the redundancy parameter may be comprised within a header of the audio frame. For example, a length of frame value, a bitrate value, a sampling rate frequency value, and/or a frame padding value may be comprised within the header of the audio frame. If the verification of the decoded audio frame fails, subsequent decoding of the previously decoded audio frame may be performed by imposing at least one physical constraint that results from the encoding of the audio frame.
