  • Patent number: 6967848
Abstract: Adapter for contacting chip cards with a connection of a data processing unit standardized according to a PCMCIA standard, including a plug-in card-like housing which has an insertion slot opening on a front end into a mounting channel for mounting a chip card and a connector panel arranged on an opposite front end, and a printed circuit electrically connected with the connector panel which extends parallel to the mounting channel and which is provided with contact elements for contacting the chip card, where the printed circuit has a length shortened in relation to the mounting channel in the direction of extension of the mounting channel and is provided with an apparatus for positioning the printed circuit and for guiding the chip card in the mounting channel on the front end facing the insertion slot.

  • Patent number: 6443361
Abstract: A contact unit for a card-shaped carrier element of electronic components, especially for ISO 7816 chip cards, is provided and includes an insertable card-shaped housing that has a base plate and a cover plate that is congruent thereto at least in the transverse direction, between which is formed a slot-like insertion channel that opens on one side of the housing for receiving a chip-card, and that at the opposing side is provided with a plug-in strip, especially in accordance with the PCMCIA standard, and that furthermore has arranged parallel to said 10 insertion channel in said housing a printed circuit board that is connected electrically to the plug-in strip and that is provided on its surface with a contact field for contact with the chip-card, whereby only the base plate is extended with a flat, lower-lip type segment that is joined to the base plate via a breaking line.

  • Patent number: 6368128
Abstract: An electrical plug-in cable connector having contact elements that are arranged in a row in chambers of a plastic housing is provided. In the longitudinal direction, each contact element has on one side a first connecting segment, in particular insulation displacement contacts for bare connection of a cable, and on their opposing side a second connecting segment, in particular a flexible tongue pair for connecting a plug contact pin or a conductor strip. A short-circuit bypass is provided between two contact elements. Formed in the connection region of the contact element between the two connecting segments, in particular between the insulation displacement contact elements and the flexible tongue pair, is a recess that is laterally accessible. The recesses of at least two of these contact elements are interconnected by inserting an electrically conducting bypass element in the transverse direction to produce the short-circuit bypass. The bypass element is arranged in the recesses with press fit.

  • Patent number: 6272017
Abstract: An adaptor for connecting a chip card to a PCMCIA-standard computer slot has a housing with a top cover, a separate bottom cover, and at least one intermediate insulative element or frame connecting the top cover to the bottom cover at a spacing to one another. The top cover and bottom cover have substantially congruent outer contours. The housing has a receiving channel. A printed circuit board is mounted in the housing and extends parallel to the receiving channel. The circuit board has contact elements for electrically contacting a chip card received in the receiving channel. The housing has a front face and a back face wherein the front face has an insertion slot communicating with the receiving channel. The back face has a contact plug electrically connected to the printed circuit board and adapted to electrically contact the PCMCIA-standard computer slot. Cams at the channel entrance are used for card retention.
