Patent number: 5470030Abstract: An apparatus for take-up of textile fabric from a fabric producing machine is equipped with a fabric take-up frame, a fabric take-up roll supported on the frame for fabric winding thereabout, and a variable speed drive motor arrangement for rotating the take-up roll. A transducer roll or other suitable arrangement monitors tension in the fabric between the fabric producing machine and the take-up frame and is associated with a microprocessor or other controller to adjust the drive motor speed as necessary to maintain fabric tension in accordance with a predetermined tension program as the fabric is wound on the take-up roll, either for purposes of maintaining constant fabric tension or programmed tension variation over the winding operation. The take-up frame is separable from and movable independently of the fabric producing machine for transporting a fabric after a take-up operation to a subsequent processing station without rewinding of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1993Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: Guilford Mills, Inc.Inventors: Arne Nielsen, Majid Moghaddassi, Boris Vishnepolsky, Keith Smith

Patent number: 5056276Abstract: A gutter guard is formed of an elongated flat sheet of perforated metal. The outer edge of the gutter guard is attached to the outer edge or lip of the gutter by several clips. The clips are preferably hinged which permits the gutter guard to pivot around the hinge clip. The inner edge of the gutter guard rests on the roof. A dam or weir juts upwardly from the surface of the perforated metal sheet parallel to and adjacent the outer edge to block or impede the flow of water thereacross. One or more handles are attached to the gutter guard to facilitate dumping of leaves and debris collected thereon. An extension rod having a hook-like head attachment can then be operated from the ground to grasp the handle and rotate the hinged gutter guard about the edge of the gutter.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Inventors: J. Patent number: 4969244Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for monitoring depletion of yarn from a textile warp beam wherein yarn actually remaining on the beam is measured radially with respect to the beam, compared with a preselected radial dimension of yarn desired to remain on the beam when the machine is stopped for beam replacement, and machine operation is stopped when the measured radial dimension of yarn equals the predetermined radial dimension of yarn. An analog inductive proximity switch is supported at the periphery of yarn wound about the beam to measure the radial dimension between the switch and the beam by producing an electrical current output proportional to such dimension. A comparator circuit compares the switch output with a reference current selected to correspond to the current output of the switch when at the preselected radial dimension of yarn at which machine operation is to be stopped.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1989Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: Guilford Mills, Inc.Inventors: Majid Moghaddassi, Arne Nielsen

Patent number: 4445437Abstract: A tamping machine intended for tamping on the open track and below switches and cross overs. It is equipped with independent tamping units arranged on opposite sides of each line of rail and each connected to the chassis by a mechanism comprising: a transverse slideway actuated by a first piston-cylinder unit; a slide block mounted on the slideway and on which the tamping unit is articulated; an arm fastened to the tamping unit; and a connecting rod connecting said arm to the chassis. The slide block of the outer unit is fastened on the slideway while the slide block of the inner unit is movable on said slideway and driven by a second piston-cylinder unit. Thus, the transverse trajectory of the tamping tools is sufficiently flat to avoid a correction of their depth of penetration upon the tamping of long ties.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1980Date of Patent: May 1, 1984Assignee: Sig Societe Industrielle SuisseInventor: Arne Nielsen
