Abstract: The toughness of low density polyethylene film is increased by incorporating therein a small amount of an ethylene-propylene copolymer containing between about 65 and about 85 percent ethylene and having between about 1 percent and about 20 percent crystallinity. When the film is to be subjected to relatively high temperature storage, as in a warehouse, blocking is avoided by the addition of between about 0.5 and about 5 weight percent finely-divided filler. Seal performance of low density polyethylene film was significantly improved by incorporating the ethylenepropylene copolymer.

Abstract: Polystyrene compositions, including polystyrene film and foamed polystyrene, containing as a photodegradability enhancing agent an organic carbonyl-containing compound, preferably benzoin; and such compositions containing in addition to said agent, a pro-oxidant metal salt or an acetylacetonate thereby imparting markedly enhanced photodegradability characteristics to said compositions.

Abstract: Brominated esters of copolymers of maleic anhydride and a compound containing ethylenic unsaturation, e.g., tribromoneopentyl ester of styrene-maleic anhydride, useful as flame retardants for polystyrene, are compatable with polystyrene and heat stable above temperatures used for processing polystyrene.
