  • Patent number: 10919198
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing complex, mould-foamed rigid foam materials, more particularly of poly(meth)acrylimide (P(M)I) cores, preferably of polymethacrylimide (PMI) cores, which may be employed, for example, in carmaking or aircraft construction. A feature of the process is that through use of a particulate core during foam, it is possible to achieve an additional weight saving relative to foam materials or sandwich materials of the prior art.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 2016
Date of Patent: February 16, 2021
    Assignee: Evonik Operations GmbH
    Inventors: Arnim Kraatz, Denis Holleyn
  • Patent number: 10279513
Abstract: A disclosed process includes steps of heating a foamed material by irradiation with near infrared radiation having a wavelength between 0.78 and 1.40 ?m to form a heated material, forming the heated material with a forming tool to obtain a formed material, and cooling the formed material and demolding to obtain a final workpiece. The foamed material may be constructed as a composite ply construction including an outer material and a foamed core between the outer material. The foamed material may contain a poly(meth)acrylimde, a polypropylene or a highly-crosslinked polyurethane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 24, 2013
Date of Patent: May 7, 2019
    Assignee: Evonik Roehm GmbH
Inventors: Jorge Pinto, Matthias Alexander Roth, Joern Daniel Suendermann, Arnim Kraatz, Dieter Schlager, Rainer Zimmermann

  • Patent number: 9260599
Abstract: The invention describes a method for producing a foam molding from poly(meth)acrylimide, an adhesion promoter or an adhesion promoter mixture and optional auxiliaries, comprising the following steps: grinding a polymeric molding made of poly(meth)acrylamide, coating the grindings obtained in the preceding step with an adhesion promoter, introducing the coated grindings into a mold, optionally adding the auxiliaries, heating the mold, cooling the mold below the foaming temperature, and demolding the foam molding. The resulting foam molding has outstanding mechanical properties and is suitable for applications including as a component in the production of space, air, water and land vehicles.

  • Publication number: 20150151496
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel process for the production of novel fibre-reinforced profile materials comprising a PMI foam core. In particular, the present invention relates to a novel pultrusion process, the abbreviated term used for which is pul-core process, which uses a single step for production of the fibre-reinforced profile material with simultaneous charging of the PMI foam core thereto. The same step here ensures very good linkage of the PMI foam core to the fibre-reinforced profile material.
