  • Patent number: 7431319
Abstract: The hitch assembly comprises a hitch member, a shank assembly for attachment to the towing vehicle, a tow vehicle mount for attachment to the towed vehicle, and a hitch alarm. The hitch member comprises a drop ball mount, and a drawbar. The drawbar is secured to the undersurface of the drop ball mount. The shank assembly includes a shank, a ball mount, a pair of ballasts, and a coupling member. The shank extends through the opening of the drop ball mount. The ball mount has a threaded engagement with one end of the shank. Interchangeable ball mounts and the use of one or two ballasts enable the same hitch assembly to be used to tow varying loads. The tow vehicle mount is secured to the undersurface of the towed vehicle. The tow vehicle mount comprises a receiver tube secured to a vehicle guide plate. The drawbar is inserted into and through the receiving tube. The hitch alarm detects an unauthorized removal of either the hitch member or the towed vehicle from the towing vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6889995
Abstract: A hitch locking mechanism enables secure retention of a towing vehicle to a towed vehicle. The hitch locking member comprises a shank and a clamp member. The clamp member includes a base, an arm, and a jaw. The jaw is pivotally attached to the base member, and moves relative to the arm between an upright position and an extended position. The shank is securely affixed to the clamp member at multiple points for secure retention of the towing vehicle to the towed vehicle. A first sleeve is positioned about the shank when the shank is retained to the clamp member. The first sleeve enables rotation of the shank relative to the clamp member when the shank is secured within the clamp member.

  • Patent number: 4938496
Abstract: The present invention is a ball hitch connector for use with a conventional ball hitch socket. The ball hitch connector includes a spherical body having a polygonally shaped bore to receive a generally cylindrical stud, where the upper section of the stud has a polygonal shape complimentary to the bore of the spherical body. The stud attaches to a generally conical collar, by means of a latch pin through two bored holes, one located in the lower section of the stud and one located in the base of the collar. The stud and attached collar are insertable within a base plate. The base of the collar is polygonal in shape. The base plate is a ring which has an inner cavity of corresponding shape to the collar. The collar and attached stud are held in place by means of the complimentary configured base plate cavity. The stud is secured to the base plate by a fastening means such as a nut and washer.

  • Patent number: 4461362
Abstract: A mining drill mountable in a holder of a drilling machine. The drill includes an elongated shaft having an internal bore extending longitudinally therethrough. A cutting bit is mountable on one end of the shaft and includes a cutting tip mounted at one end thereof and a plurality of cutting teeth disposed about its periphery. A partial longitudinal bore is formed in the cutting bit and is alignable with the bore in the shaft. An aperture is formed in the cutting bit in communication with the bore in the cutting bit to direct debris through the aperture into the aligned bores in the cutting bit and shaft. A collar is mounted on the shaft and has a downward-extending inclined top surface. At least one aperture is formed in the shaft adjacent to the collar in communication with the interior bore in the shaft to direct debris into the bore. A cutting edge is formed on the bottom of the collar.

  • Patent number: 4079796
Abstract: A machining and augering bit, particularly adapted for earth cutting, has a dual-headed tool holder. Each head receives a work piece which carries a rotatable tool bit. The head includes spaced apart first and second portions, the interior surfaces of which are opposed and which define a work-piece receiving area. A work-piece is received in the area and is utilized to mount to the tool a carbided throw-away cutting bit. With the cutting bit mounted on the work-piece which is seated in the area one of the portions shields a portion of the cutting bit to prevent its exposure to flying debris, as well as the area to be drilled.
