    Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-stage, single reactor and system for making methanol for synthesis gas (syngas). In particular, the reactor contains a shell and tube reactor that is divided at its top and bottom heads into a plurality vertical, isolated compartments. The associated compartments and tubes form a stage of the reactor. The raw syngas is fed to the first stage, and unreacted syngas from the first stage is fed to the second stage subsequent stages. Between each stage, the product, methanol and water, is removed from the reaction mixture before sending the unreacted syngas to the subsequent stage. The reactor allows for high conversion of synthesis gas to methanol in a once-through process, without requiring recycling of unreacted synthesis gas.

Furthermore, implementation as a shaped casting allows a complex shape to be achieved. It is particularly embodied as a femoral prosthesis for an artificial hip joint, which has an elongate shaft with grooves and sawtooth-like projections for bone anchoring.

To increase stability, it is proposed that the first joint element have an external hollow body with an insertion opening, that the second joint element have an internal hollow body, and that the internal hollow body in the position of installation can be inserted by way of the insertion opening relatively movably into the external hollow body. A spindle can be inserted in the position of installation into the internal hollow body for rotationally movable connection to the external hollow body.

The set-back is configured as an inclined transition surface that adjoins the connection surface to the circumferential edge. The set-back allows the intervertebral disc prosthesis to be fully inserted into the prepared disc space into the spared dorsolateral corners without protruding ventrally.

The guiding track can be helically shaped and have a locking arrangement, preferably in the form of a recess, for the actuating element in a suction position. Due to the helical shape of the guiding track, the actuating element executes a rotational and longitudinal movement during its displacement. The longitudinal movement produces a negative pressure in the suction line ensuring maintenance of the pressure, while the rotating movement causes rotation of the actuating element such that it reaches its locking position at the end of the guiding track, providing simplified handling of the instrument.
