Publication number: 20240010919Abstract: A system and method of producing synthesis gas and bio-oil from biomass. The method comprises producing, in a gasification unit, synthesis gas from a carbonaceous feedstock, optionally cooling the synthesis gas discharged from the gasification unit, channeling the synthesis gas towards a hydrothermal processing unit, wherein the hydrothermal processing unit is configured to process a biomass feedstock contained in a pressurized water stream, transferring, in the hydrothermal processing unit, heat from the synthesis gas to the biomass feedstock, and producing a hydrothermal product from the biomass feedstock in the pressurized water stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Inventors: Arnold Keller, Michael Keller

Publication number: 20180221842Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-stage, single reactor and system for making methanol for synthesis gas (syngas). In particular, the reactor contains a shell and tube reactor that is divided at its top and bottom heads into a plurality vertical, isolated compartments. The associated compartments and tubes form a stage of the reactor. The raw syngas is fed to the first stage, and unreacted syngas from the first stage is fed to the second stage subsequent stages. Between each stage, the product, methanol and water, is removed from the reaction mixture before sending the unreacted syngas to the subsequent stage. The reactor allows for high conversion of synthesis gas to methanol in a once-through process, without requiring recycling of unreacted synthesis gas.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2016Publication date: August 9, 2018Inventors: Eli GAL, Robert M. KOROS, Benjamin MOSKOWITZ, Arnold KELLER

Patent number: 9675730Abstract: The invention relates to a joint prosthesis having a shaft made from a titanium alloy, in which at least the shaft is investment cast and has a body-centered cubic crystal structure. A titanium alloy having this crystal structure (known as ?-titanium alloy) has an advantageously low modulus of elasticity which is well matched to the physiological demands of joint prostheses. Furthermore, implementation as a shaped casting allows a complex shape to be achieved. It is particularly embodied as a femoral prosthesis for an artificial hip joint, which has an elongate shaft with grooves and sawtooth-like projections for bone anchoring.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2006Date of Patent: June 13, 2017Assignee: Waldemar Link GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Sevki Baliktay, Arnold Keller

Patent number: 9138323Abstract: A finger joint prosthesis is provided including a joint body having first and second joint elements, which are connected together pivotably about a rotary axis and from each of which extends an anchoring bar for fixing to a proximal and/or distal phalanx. The anchoring bars have eyes with openings for receiving fixing screws. To increase stability, it is proposed that the first joint element have an external hollow body with an insertion opening, that the second joint element have an internal hollow body, and that the internal hollow body in the position of installation can be inserted by way of the insertion opening relatively movably into the external hollow body. A spindle can be inserted in the position of installation into the internal hollow body for rotationally movable connection to the external hollow body.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2008Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Waldemar Link GmbH & Co. Patent number: 8591586Abstract: An intervertebral disc prosthesis having two cover plates and a prosthesis core that extends to the circumferential edge of the cover plates. The prosthesis core is mounted to the lower cover plate and forms a spherical sliding surface with the upper cover plate. The connection surface of the cover plates may be set back from the circumferential perimeter of the cover plates to provide an optimum size of the spherical sliding surface despite the set-back nature of the connection surface. The set-back is configured as an inclined transition surface that adjoins the connection surface to the circumferential edge. The set-back allows the intervertebral disc prosthesis to be fully inserted into the prepared disc space into the spared dorsolateral corners without protruding ventrally.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2012Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Cervitech, Inc.Inventors: Helmut D. Patent number: 8361077Abstract: An insertion instrument comprising an elongate shaft, a suction head provided at the front end thereof for connection to a joint socket, a suction device with a piston guided in the shaft, a suction line opening out at the suction head, and an actuating element which is guided along a guiding track on the shaft. The guiding track can be helically shaped and have a locking arrangement, preferably in the form of a recess, for the actuating element in a suction position. Due to the helical shape of the guiding track, the actuating element executes a rotational and longitudinal movement during its displacement. The longitudinal movement produces a negative pressure in the suction line ensuring maintenance of the pressure, while the rotating movement causes rotation of the actuating element such that it reaches its locking position at the end of the guiding track, providing simplified handling of the instrument.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2007Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Inventor: Arnold Keller

Patent number: 8303661Abstract: System of intervertebral disc prostheses which includes standard prostheses and corrective prostheses. The corrective prostheses serve to compensate for a ventro-dorsal offset. They are characterized in that, on one of their cover plates, the surface via which it cooperates in a matching manner with the prosthesis core is offset ventrodorsally relative to the contact surface by comparison with the standard prostheses.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2007Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: DePuy Spine, Inc.Inventor: Arnold Keller

Patent number: 8192493Abstract: A prosthesis for the partial replacement of a vertebral body includes an upper contact plate for connection to an upper vertebral body, a lower contact plate for connection to a lower vertebral body and a bridging part which connects the upper and lower contact plates to one another and bridges at least one intermediate vertebral body which is located between the upper and lower vertebral bodies and is to be partially replaced. The bridging part is accommodated in a recess in the vertebral body and is secured in the recess with lateral anchoring projections which penetrate into the bone substance located on both sides of the bridging part. The cross section of the bridging part may narrow toward the rear, preferably in a trapezoid shape.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Cervitech, Inc.Inventor: Arnold Keller
