  • Patent number: 4098310
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting off and beveling the ends of wood web components for trusses. A length of lumber is guided longitudinally into the machine against a stop and clamped near its lead end, following which the clamped portion is cut off to component length, the stop retracted, and the clamped portion automatically moved laterally to pass its ends across a pair of two-way beveling saws. The beveled clamped portion is then returned to starting position where it is automatically unclamped and then manually pushed longitudinally past the retracted stop to be engaged by an ejection device which discharges the component from the machine and automatically extends the stop into the path of the next component.

  • Patent number: 4089107
Abstract: Apparatus for fabricating flat wood trusses having parallel chords with web members connected thereto by toothed metal plates. A rigid jig bed is provided on which to assemble the components between a fixed bar on one side of the bed and a laterally movable bar on the other side. Fluid cylinder means mounted on the bed engage the movable bar to clamp the assembled components against the opposite rigid bar. A single stand of pinch rolls at one end of the bed rolls the metal toothed plates into the wood joints and is also adapted to apply toothed metal reinforcing strips to the chords prior to assembly.

  • Patent number: 4031686
Abstract: A truss having parallel wood chord members and diagonal web members therebetween connected to the chord members by toothed metal plates. The diagonal web members under compression are wood having their ends fitted into notches in the chord members and the web members under tension are preferably metal with their ends connected to one side of the chord members by toothed plates which overlie the notches. The toothed plates connecting the ends of the compression members to the chord members overlie the notches on the other side of the chord members.

  • Patent number: 4005520
Abstract: A system for fabricating frame structures having wood chords and web components connected by toothed plates on opposite sides of each joint, wherein an elongated rectangular bed is provided on which to assemble and connect the components, longitudinal rows of conveyor rolls bring the chords forwardly and transfer means move them laterally to areas at the ends of the bed, and the web components are delivered to the sides of the bed.
