Patent number: 11175170Abstract: Methods and systems for estimating volumes of agricultural crops are provided. A geographic position sensor provides positions of a harvesting machine as it gathers an agricultural crop and places the crop on the ground in a windrow. A speed of the harvesting machine is determined using the geographic position sensor. Signals are received from a sensor system disposed at a bottom of the harvesting machine. The signals are indicative of profiles of segments of the windrow on the ground. Cross-sectional areas of the windrow are estimated using the signals. Volumes of the agricultural crop are estimated using the speed of the harvesting machine and the estimated cross-sectional areas of the windrow.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2018Date of Patent: November 16, 2021Assignee: Trimble Inc.Inventors: Arthur Francis Lange, Daniel Ramos, Uriel Aparecido Rosa, Gregory C. Patent number: 10387418Abstract: Described herein is a sparse tree data structure that may be utilized to selectively retrieve database records containing information relevant to an obtained query. Specifically, the sparse tree data structure may be utilized to prevent combinatorial explosion that may occur where responses to an obtained query requires a combination of information from multiple records. Rather than explicitly enumerate all possible combinations, the sparse tree data structure enables implicit enumeration of those combinations to determine combinations of highest relevancy. In one embodiment, the sparse tree implements a specific algorithm within the “branch-and-bound” algorithmic paradigm to reduce the time and computational resources required to response to a query.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2017Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: Expedia, Inc.Inventor: Arthur Francis Champernowne

Patent number: 8759200Abstract: The present invention discloses that under modified chemical vapor deposition (mCVD) conditions an epitaxial silicon film may be formed by exposing a substrate contained within a chamber to a relatively high carrier gas flow rate in combination with a relatively low silicon precursor flow rate at a temperature of less than about 550° C. and a pressure in the range of about 10 mTorr-200 Torr. Furthermore, the crystalline Si may be in situ doped to contain relatively high levels of substitutional carbon by carrying out the deposition at a relatively high flow rate using tetrasilane as a silicon source and a carbon-containing gas such as dodecalmethylcyclohexasilane or tetramethyldisilane under modified CVD conditions.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2011Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignees: Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Terry Arthur Francis, Satoshi Hasaka, Paul David Brabant, Robert Torres, Jr., Hong He, Alexander Reznicek, Thomas N. Patent number: 8674207Abstract: The device relates to a circular electronic musical instrument having a keyboard with keys which produces polyphonic musical notes. The device is an organ which covers at least one octave of musical notes. The octaves are aligned in bands of concentric rings located on the top of the instrument. Each band of keys may contain one octave of notes. Notes in a first octave are next to or nearby identical notes in a second octave to make popular chords and songs easy to play. Notes may be played simultaneously which are octaves apart with one hand due to proximity of all the keys. A hand may extend over a centrally located loudspeaker and be used to vary the loudness and produce vibrato effects. A small overlay having information may be easily placed on the top of the keyboard to assist in learning songs by number, color, or other visual aids.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2012Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Assignee: Advins, Inc.Inventor: Arthur Francis Seymour

Publication number: 20140007501Abstract: This self-watering planter comprises a wick, reservoir, wick-housing running between the soil/soil substitute and the reservoir, and a tight fitting cap to maintain a vacuum seal within the reservoir. The water or liquid mixture is maintained at a constant level across the wick by the vacuum that is created. This prevents water from flowing upwards into the soil when the soil is already wet. Liquid is only drawn from the wick by osmosis when the soil is dry. Even as the water level in the reservoir drops, the water level across the wick continues to remain level until the reservoir is nearly empty, allowing the soil constant access to water until the reservoir needs refilling. Several embodiments are included. All contains these features, but some contain addition features as well as different proportions. The uses of the different embodiments are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2013Publication date: January 9, 2014Inventor: Arthur Francis Griebel

Publication number: 20130171606Abstract: A smart grid educational tool and system for using the same is provided. The smart grid relates generally to electro-mechanical systems with mechanical structures that produce electrical signals and switching systems similar to an actual smart power grid. This electrical system relates specifically to structures that easily and quickly demonstrate to students and utility workers the architecture and power sources used by the electric companies in the generation and distribution of electricity. The device utilizes an infrared beam of light sent through a spinning fan or other device, which breaks up the beam, to a receiving unit which produces an AC wave which is later converted to a single frequency sine wave and analyzed on a computer monitor.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2011Publication date: July 4, 2013Inventor: Arthur Francis Seymour
