  • Patent number: 4447752
Abstract: A ball contact slip ring assembly for conducting electrical signals between two relatively rotating structures, and which is particularly suited for use in gimbaled inertial guidance systems. The assembly includes a slip ring disposed on one structure and a brush associated with the ring on the other structure. The slip ring is provided with a groove which extends around the outer circumference thereof and the slip ring may be composed of a relatively soft noble metal. The brush comprises a pair of spring-biased, resilient arms spaced from one another, each arm having an electrically conductive ball secured thereto which is adapted to ride within the groove of the slip ring and accommodate diverse motion while maintaining a consistent electrical contact.
