Patent number: 8191497Abstract: A system for supporting a banner includes a body defining an elongate passage (260, 260A) and a secure halyard passage (271, 271A), the elongate passage configured to receive at least one travelling weight (256, 256A) and having a longitudinal slot (261, 261A) extending substantially along the length of the elongate passage wherein, in use, the banner is attached through the slot to the at least one travelling weight. A housing (12) is positioned at an upper end of the halyard passage, the housing having a recess configured to receive a banner arm (14) wherein, in use, the banner is attached to the banner arm and retraction of a halyard (228) through the secure halyard passage causes the banner arm to be retracted into the recess and to be positioned in a predetermined laterally-extending orientation. The body may be a conduit (210) configured for attachment to a support surface. In another arrangement the body is a multi-function street pole (200A).Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2008Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Challangila Pty LtdInventors: Arthur Lachlan McCudden, Lachlan Arthur Dean McCudden

Patent number: 8109225Abstract: A banner raising apparatus is described for use with a halyard (228) for raising and lowering a banner. The apparatus is mounted to a generally vertical support surface (222) and comprises an upper halyard guide (220) mounted at an upper portion of the support surface and guiding the halyard travelling in a secure halyard passageway. A halyard fastener (218) is operable to releasably fasten the halyard exiting the secure halyard passageway adjacent a lower portion of the support surface, and a secure housing (212) is mounted externally of the support surface adjacent the lower portion, the secure housing configured to contain the halyard fastener and having sufficient internal volume to securely house the halyard of a raised banner. The secure housing is configured to enable access to the halyard. An elongate conduit defining the secure halyard passageway may be mounted externally to the support surface. The secure halyard passageway may be a secure internal cavity defined in the support surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2006Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Inventors: Lachlan Arthur Dean McCudden, Arthur Lachlan McCudden

Patent number: 6758159Abstract: An apparatus (12) for supporting a flag comprising a housing (26) having an opening (24) in a side face. A passage (30) extends trough housing (26). The housing (28) has a lower tubular part (40) that is mounted to the top of a flagpole (10). A cable (16) is attached to an arm (14). The cable extends from a winch (22) up through the flagpole and through the passage (30) in the housing (26). The cable is attached to the arm (14). In order to attach a flag to arm (14), winch (22) is operated to extend cable (16) and to lower arm (14) to the ground. Once a flag is attached to arm (14), the winch (22) is operated to retract the cable (16). This draws the arm (14) into the housing (26). Continued retraction of the cable (16) results in the arm (14) adopting an essentially horizontal position. The apparatus may rotate.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2002Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Inventors: Arthur Lachlan McCudden, Lachlan Arthur Dean McCudden

Patent number: 6318011Abstract: A sign board support structure comprises an upright, telescopically adjustable, tubular mast (7), a substantially horizontally extending cantilever projecting from the mast at or near the top thereof (9) and a bifurcated base (8) projecting rigidly and substantially horizontally from the bottom of the mast. The base is substantially symmetrical about a center line in the same vertical plane as the cantilever and has limbs (15) which diverge from each other with distance from the mast and are each adapted to be respectively wedged into the two cusp shaped spaces defined by a wheel tire (32) of a vehicle and the surface on which the vehicle stands. The base, mast and cantilever are united by demountable couplings (13,14).Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1999Date of Patent: November 20, 2001Assignee: Challangila Pty.
