  • Patent number: 5339558
Abstract: An ice fishing device has a support dimensioned to overlie a hole through the ice of a predetermined maximum cross sectional area with a tubular post extending through it with a central portion thereof connected thereto. A shaft extends through the post with a holder fixed on the upper end thereof and a reel axially connected to the lower end thereof. A resilient mast is attached to the support and has a free end in the form of a rod to be held by the holder. The holder has an end wall extending laterally of the shaft and is vertical when the device is in use. The holder has a retaining wall disposed to overlie the rod when manually positioned thereunder then to be resiliently held substantially at the junction of the two walls until a fish taking the bait, exerts a pull on the line causing the shaft to turn with the end wall camming the rod free of the holder.

  • Patent number: 4993182
Abstract: Ice fishing devices in accordance with the invention have posts to each of which a line carrying reel is rotatably mounted and which has one end of a spring steel length attached thereto with a signal flag, a latch at the free end thereof. The side wall of the reel adjacent the post has a latch by which the catch is held when the device is set for use. The catch and latch are disengaged by a pull on the line in an unwinding direction adequate to turn the reel approximately a quarter turn. The posts are held by supports dimensioned to be seated on the margins of the holes. In the disclosed embodiments, the supports are insulated hole covers, each provided with a hole through which the line with its hook freely passes.

  • Patent number: 4581767
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for automatically and repeatably measng the effectiveness of jamming applied against a communications link. The method is machine performed, free of the need of listener personnel, and the recording and scoring tasks required in conventional methods. Using a ratio of auto and cross-correlation functions, a number is produced (CCI Index) which is the desired measure of jamming effectiveness. The CCI Index is a standardized value which indicates jamming effectiveness in any type communications link regardless of equipment or type of modulation in use. The Index, rapidly obtainable, can be used to pinpoint which jamming technique might be most advantageously employed, and by precisely how many db it would be superior.
