  • Patent number: 10875630
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and system for managing gust loading in an aircraft. A deflection angle of one or more spoilers of the aircraft is monitored. When the spoiler deflection angle is above a first threshold value, one or more aileron control signals are sent to the ailerons. The aileron control signals cause the ailerons to deflect based on the spoiler deflection angle.

  • Patent number: 5553697
Abstract: An overlay for a passenger conveyor roller track extends over the joints between segments to provide the engagement surface for the roller track. The overlay separates the engagement surface from the joints between adjacent segments to minimize vibration and improve the comfort of the ride. In one embodiment, an escalator includes a roller track having a support structure formed from multiple segments joined end to end and an overlay extending over the multiple segments. The overlay defines the engagement surface for the rollers engaged with the roller track.

  • Patent number: 5361887
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting an irregularity in the frequency of steps passing a particular point within a passenger conveying device is provided, comprising an apparatus for sensing the presence of an axle attached to the step without contacting the axle or a roller attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 5188209
Abstract: The moving handrail on an escalator or moving walkway is first tightened on its guide rail to the extent necessary to eliminate substantially all handrail slack in the handrail loop. Thereafter, the handrail is loosened so as to impart optimum slack thereto whereby handrail friction and heat is minimized during operation of the escalator or moving walkway.

  • Patent number: 5186302
Abstract: The step skirts and inner deck panels are fixed against outward deflection by a series of spacer pins which abut the balustrade mounting assembly beneath the deck panels, and which are secured to the skirt and deck panels. When the escalator is erected, the skirt and deck panels will be set relative to the sides of the steps so as to obtain the appropriate gap between the steps and the skirts. An overlapping portion of the deck and skirt panels is formed with an aperture, and a guide sleeve is fixed to the inner surface of the skirt panels in registry with the aperture. A pin is then pushed through the aperture and sleeve until it comes in contact with the balustrade mount assembly. The pin is then secured to the deck and skirts, and prevents deflection of the deck and skirts toward the balustrade mount assembly.

  • Patent number: 5156252
Abstract: The handrail reentry guard housing on a moving walkway or an escalator is provided with a retrofittable shield which is attached to the underside of the guard housing, and which fills the space between the moving handrail and the guard housing. The shield is formed from complimentary halves which are made from formed plastic sheets. The shield halves are somewhat flexible so as not to form a rigid counterpart to the moving handrail. Hook and loop components are secured to the guard housing and to the shield halves to allow for retrofit securement of the shield to the guard housing.

  • Patent number: 5131520
Abstract: The escalator handrail guide rail assembly includes a metal base which can be snap fitted onto a glass escalator or walkway balustrade. A low friction plastic strip is fitted onto the top of the base for contact with the handrail, and a metal reinforcing piece is snap fitted onto the base over the plastic strip to hold the latter in place, and to reinforce the plastic strip. The reinforcing piece is formed from two identical interleaved strips which can be attached to and detached from the base without the use of any tools more specialized than a rubber mallet and without the use of separate fasteners such as screws, bolts, or the like.
