  • Patent number: 5202537
Abstract: An electrical junction box for supplying electrical power to a multiplexer or other device used in an underfloor cable distribution system is mounted remotely from a trench used to feed electrical cables to the system in order to increase trench capacity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 13, 1991
Date of Patent: April 13, 1993
Assignees: Robert Nusbaum, Howard Nusbaum, Barbara Selick

  • Patent number: 5167299
Abstract: A net is yieldably supported in an elevator shaft to permit a controller, decelerated descent of an object falling down the shaft. The net is automatically closed and maintained in a closed state by closure rings that slide along tethers attached to the net.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 8, 1991
Date of Patent: December 1, 1992
    Inventor: Arthur Nusbaum
  • Patent number: 5161641
Abstract: A worker operates a winch having a handle located below a fully deployed net from a protected position in which the net shields the worker from injury. A curtain is mounted either above or below the net on support structures therefor for joint movement with the net. A close-in bracket brings the inner edge of the net closer to an outer face of a building under construction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 1991
Date of Patent: November 10, 1992
    Inventor: Arthur Nusbaum
  • Patent number: 4896864
Abstract: A safety barrier assembly for a building under construction comprises a continuous barrier in sheet form having a height several feet above the floor and a toeboard secured to a cable spaced only a few inches from the floor, the free end of the toeboard lying on but being unsecured to the floor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 20, 1988
Date of Patent: January 30, 1990
Assignees: Robert Nusbaum, Howard Nusbaum, Barbara Selick
    Inventor: Arthur Nusbaum
  • Patent number: 4856615
Abstract: A safety net arrangement for and a method of protecting workmen and passersby from injury during the construction of a multi-floor building includes the raising and lowering of a fully deployed safety net along a plurality of upright guide rails attached to the building.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 1988
Date of Patent: August 15, 1989
    Inventor: Arthur Nusbaum
  • Patent number: 4838382
Abstract: A safety net is raised during construction of a multi-floor building without the use of tracks vertically attached to the outer building face. A pair of support structures hold the net in a fully deployed condition adjacent the outer building face. Each support structure is held in place by a plurality of holders. A positive locking device is provided on each holder and support structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 1988
Date of Patent: June 13, 1989
    Inventor: Arthur Nusbaum
  • Patent number: 4625480
Abstract: The underfloor assembly for a building comprises corrugated metal flooring units preferably side-by-side with cable distribution ducts, over which is mounted cable trenches. Each distribution duct has a bottom plate and a preferably inverted U-shaped top, the tops extending between adjacent intersections of the trench with the ducts to thus leave the duct open under the trenches. The bottoms of the trenches are open where they intersect the ducts, and the trenches are formed by field assembly of trench subunits that have a U-shaped bottom pan with cut-outs on either side of a preferably centrally located bottom portion, as well as a cover removably closing the pan.

  • Patent number: 4580379
Abstract: The underfloor assembly for a building comprises corrugated metal flooring units preferably side-by-side with cable distribution ducts, over which is mounted cable trenches. Each distribution duct has a bottom plate and a plurality of closed cells with less than all of the cells having portions cut away to thus leave free areas under the trenches. An opening is provided in the bottom plate at a desired free area, and an open pan extends through the opening and below the bottom plate. The bottoms of the trenches are open where they intersect the ducts to provide access to the pans as well as to provide access between the trenches and the ducts and additional space below the trench to accommodate splices and bends in the cables. The pans can also be accessed from the floor below via the ceiling suspended below the pans.

Abstract: The underfloor assembly for a building comprises corrugated metal flooring units preferably side-by-side with cable distribution ducts, over which is mounted cable trenches. Each distribution duct has a bottom plate and a plurality of inverted U-shaped members with less than all of the members having portions cut away to thus leave the members open under the trenches. The bottoms of the trenches are open where they intersect the ducts, thereby providing easy access between the trenches and the ducts and additional space below the trench to accommodate splices and bends in the cables.
