  • Patent number: 10234968
Abstract: An apparatus includes a knob that is repositionable into a first position and a second position. The knob may be configured to control a first set of parameters in the first position and a second set of parameters in the second position. The apparatus may include a reconfigurable display configured to selectively display at least a first display configuration and a second display configuration. The system may be configured to display the first display configuration on the reconfigurable display when the knob is in the first position, and the system may be configured to display the second display configuration on the reconfigurable display when the knob is in the second position. The apparatus may also include a slider device having a set of rails defining a track between the rails. The knob may be slidable along the slider device into the first and second positions.

  • Publication number: 20160077588
Abstract: A reconfigurable switch array assembly incorporating a touch screen system and haptics feedback that sends a signal for executing desired functions selected by a user and that alerts an operator by providing mechanical feedback. Graphics viewable on the touch screen and desired functions are reconfigurable utilizing module software compatible for selectively providing several different graphical and/or functional configurations contained in a single package. The reconfigurable switch array assembly has a rocker button that moves to a downward and upward position. When a user touches the desired function's graphic a capacitive field is created by a capacitive film to identify the desired function. The rocker button rotates from a static position to a downward or upward position caused by the force of the user's touch, which actuates a tactile switch to perform the selected function.

  • Patent number: 9139092
Abstract: An instrument cluster assembly mounts within a vehicle dashboard. An opening is defined within the dashboard provides for mounting of an instrument cluster assembly. The example instrument cluster assembly includes a top surface that corresponds with the top surface of the dashboard to provide a completed top visible surface when in a completed assembled condition. The instrument cluster assembly includes a first gauge and a second gauge separated by an open space therebetween. A bi-vision display is mounted in the open space between the first and second gauges. The bi-vision display generates a virtual image that is viewed by the operator between the first and second gauges.

  • Publication number: 20140167947
Abstract: A disclosed vehicle instrument panel assembly includes a display disposed within a first plane and configured for generating an image indicative of vehicle operation and a pointer disposed on a second plane spaced apart from the first plane and extending at least partially over the display to highlight the image generated by the display.

  • Publication number: 20130092075
Abstract: An instrument cluster assembly includes a plurality of gauges that each provides an indication and measure for communicating vehicle operating conditions to a vehicle operator. At least one of the gauges includes a secondary scale that includes a plurality of individually illuminatable segments. The measured parameter is indicated by the secondary scales by illuminating select segments in a variable manner between a fully illuminated, partially illuminated and off conditions to provide an additional degree of precision.

  • Publication number: 20120206251
Abstract: A gauge provides information indicative of vehicle speed and includes a pointer that moves relative to the scale to indicate a current measured the vehicle parameter. A tell tale housing is supported above and spaced apart from the gauge face. A main circuit board supports light emitting devices such as LEDs that are turned on or off to illuminate the corresponding tell tale. A light guide is supported within the tell tale housing and directs light from the LED to the at least one tell tale spaced apart from the main circuit board and the main gauge surface.
