  • Patent number: 6505713
Abstract: A tire locating wheel restraint for securing a parked vehicle against movement in one direction is provided. The wheel restraint includes a trigger for sensing the position of a tire of the vehicle, and collapsible locking assembly for engaging and restraining the tire. The trigger and collapsible locking assembly travel along a path within a base on which the vehicle is parked. Once the tire is sensed, the collapsible locking assembly is erected and moves longitudinally relative to the trigger until the tire is engaged and restrained. The relative movement between the trigger and the locking assembly enables the wheel restraint to secure tires of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 5564238
Abstract: A safety gate to be mounted on a loading dock. The safety gate includes a pair of vertical columns which are mounted on the floor of the dock on either side of a doorway that can be enclosed by an overhead door. A barrier or beam is mounted for sliding movement on the vertical columns and can be moved from an upper storage position where it is located above the doorway to a lower operative position where it extends across the doorway and will prevent material handling equipment, or other objects from accidentally passing through the doorway and falling to the driveway adjacent the dock. The barrier is composed of a pair of elongated side members which are connected by a pair of end members and a series of spaced transverse members. Each column is disposed in the space between an end member and the adjacent transverse member, and the outer surface of one of the side members facing the dock is provided with a resilient shock absorbing layer.

  • Patent number: 4047698
Abstract: The present disclosure shows a pallet truck of the type wherein an electrically driven pump supplies a hydraulic cylinder with pressure fluid for raising the fork mechanism. For lowering the fork mechanism a dump valve exhausts hydraulic fluid from the cylinder. UP and DOWN push-button switches conventionally control the electric motor and the dump valve, respectively. The apparatus disclosed herein provides an alternate circuit which operates automatically when both push buttons are in their inactive positions and the fork mechanism is fully lowered or nearly fully lowered to raise the fork lift structure automatically a safe distance above the floor, whereupon the auxiliary circuit means becomes inactive.
