  • Publication number: 20070244208
Abstract: A process for producing high octane fuel from carbon dioxide and water is disclosed. The feedstock for the production line is industrial carbon dioxide and water, which may be of lower quality. The end product can be high octane gasoline, high cetane diesel or other liquid hydrocarbon mixtures suitable for driving conventional combustion engines or hydrocarbons suitable for further industrial processing or commercial use. Products, such as dimethyl ether or methanol may also be withdrawn from the production line. The process is emission free and reprocesses all hydrocarbons not suitable for liquid fuel to form high octane products. The heat generated by exothermic reactions in the process is fully utilizes as is the heat produced in the reprocessing of hydrocarbons not suitable for liquid fuel.

  • Publication number: 20050155488
Abstract: This invention relates to internal combustion engines with cylinders arranged parallel to the main shaft and where reciprocating movements of the pistons are converted to rotation by means of a Z-crank mechanism and motion converter, or conversely to systems such as pumps and compressors wherein rotation of the Z-crank and motion converter produces reciprocating motions of the pistons. The motion converter is prevented from rotation by a reaction control shaft or by a gear train. Connecting rods are prevented from rotating about their long axes. Double-ended configurations can be either opposed cylinder or opposed piston, and may include multiple pairs of pistons with each pair in a common cylinder. The Z-crank may be moved axially for the purpose of varying the compression ratio. Variation of the compression ratio is controlled by an engine control unit and is adjusted to optimize engine performance under varying loads and other conditions.

  • Publication number: 20030122081
Abstract: An analyte detection system for non-invasively determining the concentration of an analyte in a sample is described. The detection system includes a window assembly consisting of a main layer adapted to allow electromagnetic radiation to pass therethrough, and a heater layer adapted to exchange heat to the sample. The system also includes a detector adapted to detect electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sample and passed through the window assembly. The analyte detection system also includes a control system in electrical communication with the heater layer and adapted to cause the heater layer to exchange heat to the sample. The main layer of the window assembly may be made from a variety of materials such as germanium, silicon, and chemical vapor deposited diamond.

  • Patent number: 5459945
Abstract: A vacuum assisted system for drying articles of clothing with recaptured heat includes an evaporation chamber and a condensation chamber. The evaporation chamber is enclosed inside the condensation chamber. Heat transfers from the condensation chamber to the evaporation chamber when vapor condenses on the exterior of the evaporation chamber. Pressure is reduced in each chamber by an automated regulation system which pumps vapor from between the chambers to optimize drying.

  • Patent number: 4740135
Abstract: A transfer arm mechanism including a base assembly, a pivoting arm extending generally upwardly from the base assembly, a wafer support paddle, and mechanisms for pivoting the arm back and forth while maintaining the wafer support paddle in a horizontal plane. A base assembly includes a rotatable plate which can rotate the mechanism through 360.degree., and a support plate which can be moved up and down along guide posts attached to the rotatable plate. The mechanism for moving the wafer paddle along a horizontal plane includes a cam member attached to the support plate, and a cam follower which rolls along an upper surface of the cam member to compensate for the pivoting action of the arm assembly. A mechanism is also provided to prevent the wafer paddle from tipping which includes a drive chain extending between a gear which is rotationally fixed with respect to the support plate and a gear which is attached to a pivot pin supporting the wafer paddle.
