  • Patent number: 11957579
Abstract: A loader and method for loading a transcatheter heart valve into a delivery sheath or catheter is described that is also configured to facilitate retrieval of the heart valve back through the delivery sheath while protecting the delivery sheath from damage. Another loader provides for easier crimping and loading of a THV into a delivery sheath or catheter from a storage jar or container. A method for crimping a THV facilitates easier end user preparation of the valve for implantation and reduces the likelihood of tissue deformation in the valve during storage. These devices and methods for deploying THVs simplify the valve replacement procedure.

  • Publication number: 20240099838
Abstract: A method for retrieving a previously inserted prosthetic valve is disclosed. In one example, a loader assembly is inserted through a hub of a delivery sheath device. The delivery sheath device includes an expandable sheath that extends into a blood vessel of a patient. The loader assembly is advanced in a distal direction until a distal section of the loader assembly extends into the expandable sheath which is attached to a distal end of the hub. The distal section has a larger inner diameter than a middle tube section of the loader assembly. A delivery catheter is retracted to move a prosthetic valve attached thereto in a proximal direction until the prosthetic valve is received within the distal section. The loader assembly and the delivery catheter are removed from a proximal end of the hub while the prosthetic valve is retained within the distal section.

  • Publication number: 20230255761
Abstract: A delivery cylinder includes a first tubular portion and a second tubular portion having a plurality of struts coupled to the first tubular portion and defining a volume for containing a radially compressed prosthetic implant. The struts include proximal end portions and main body portions extending from the proximal end portions in both an expanded configuration and a contracted configuration. The proximal end portions of each strut include a pair of first recessed portions defined in longitudinal edges of the strut, and a pair of second recessed portions defined in the longitudinal edges distally of the pair of first recessed portions. The pair of first recessed portions reduces a width of the strut to induce bending of the strut at the pair of first recessed portions, and the pair of second recessed portions reduces the width of the strut to induce bending at the pair of second recessed portions.

  • Patent number: 11666437
Abstract: A delivery cylinder for a prosthetic implant can include a first tubular portion and a second tubular portion. The second tubular portion has a plurality of strut members coupled to the first tubular portion that define a volume for containing the prosthetic implant in a radially compressed state. The strut members can include respective flex regions configured such that application of force to the strut members causes deformation of the flex regions and corresponding radially inward or outward movement of the strut members relative to a longitudinal axis of the delivery cylinder between an expanded configuration and a contracted configuration.

  • Publication number: 20210322146
Abstract: A valve cover apparatus for use in a medical assembly including a prosthetic valve and a valve delivery apparatus. The valve cover apparatus includes a housing, a chamber disposed within the housing for receiving a prosthetic heart valve in an at least partially expanded state, a tapered surface defining a portion of the chamber, and a lock ring that is axially movable over at least a portion of the housing between a locked position and an unlocked position. The tapered surface is enables loading and/or guiding of the prosthetic heart valve from the chamber of the valve cover apparatus into a delivery sheath of the valve delivery apparatus and transition the prosthetic heart valve to a radially compressed state. The lock ring restricts movement of the valve cover relative to the delivery sheath when in the locked position, and enables movement of the valve cover when in the unlocked position.
