    Abstract: Flame retardant properties are imparted to a textile substrate by application of a powdered flame retardant in solid form, which is then fused or melted onto the textile to durably attach the flame retardant to the textile. The process is especially adapted for water-insoluble solid flame retardants, such as hexabromocyclododecane, currently applied in dispersion or emulsion form.
