Publication number: 20230317272Abstract: A system for orthodontic treatment planning. The system comprises a processor and memory. Computer-program instructions cause the system to display a user interface on a display. The user interface is for a user to input a prescription for treatment of the patient. The user interface provides a plurality of commands for selection. Each command is a one-word instruction, a two-word instruction, or a three-word instruction based on orthodontic nomenclature. The system receives selected two or more of the plurality of commands into the prescription for treatment. The two or more selected commands are to be applied according to a predetermined protocol to the patient's teeth. A database is configured to receive the prescription for treatment of the patient and to contain a plurality of other prescriptions for treatment of other patients. The database is configured to receive a plurality of other prescriptions from a plurality of users of the system.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2022Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventors: Evan Yifeng Tsai, Asad Abu-Tarif, Karol Miranda, Jose Franco

Patent number: 11684461Abstract: A scanning system is described herein which incorporates projecting a plurality of patterns onto an object of interest and capturing the reflected image. Each pattern is based at least in part on traversing a hypercube graph or a Fibonacci cube graph using a Hamiltonian path. The patterns are used to help define the three-dimensional shape of the underlying object of interest, while also providing more robust error-correcting properties. After the reflected image of the projected pattern is captured, the scanning system further processes and displays a three-dimensional model of the captured object of interest.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2020Date of Patent: June 27, 2023Assignee: MEDIT CORP.Inventors: Asad Abu-Tarif, Saradwata Sarkar

Publication number: 20200375456Abstract: A system comprises a storage device, a piece of medical equipment, a portable computing device, and a hub portal. The piece of medical equipment has at least one electrically powered feature and comprises either a medical examination table or a storage cabinet. The storage device is operable to store data and is remotely located relative to the first piece of medical equipment and relative to the portable computing device. The hub portal is operable to provide communication of one or both of data or commands between the storage device, the piece of medical equipment, and the portable computing device. A method includes enablement or activation of an electrically powered feature of medical equipment upon entry of a portable computing device into a medical examination room. The method also includes disablement or further activation of the electrically powered feature upon exit of the portable computing device from the medical examination room.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2020Publication date: December 3, 2020Inventors: Asad Abu-Tarif, Thomas L. Treon, Steven K. Cordonnier, Carlos J. Castillo, Robert Menke, Ruomei Zhang, Jon E. Wells

Publication number: 20160220195Abstract: A non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) monitor is inflated and deflated based upon an algorithm so that a patient's current heart rate may influence the target inflation pressure and the deflation rate. In this manner, if a patient's heart rate is slower than expected, the NIBP monitor may slow its deflation rate so that an appropriate number of cardiac cycles will be captured in order to maximize accuracy. Similarly, if a patient's heart rate is faster than expected, the NIBP monitor may speed its deflation rate to minimize the time of the procedure and the stress on the patient, while still capturing an appropriate number of cardiac cycles.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2016Publication date: August 4, 2016Inventors: Asad Abu-Tarif, Gongyu Shen, Tanvi Pisolkar, Ruomei Zhang, Tony Capparelli
