  • Publication number: 20040011605
Abstract: A motor-driven parking brake apparatus includes an electric motor and a rotation transmission mechanism. The rotation transmission mechanism brings a parking brake into a braking state through rotation in the regular direction effected by means of torque transmitted from the electric motor, and brings the parking brake into a released state through rotation in the reverse direction effected by means of the torque. The rotation transmission mechanism includes a first speed reduction mechanism, a second speed reduction mechanism, and a reverse-input cutoff clutch placed between the first and second speed reduction mechanisms. The reverse-input cutoff clutch allows its reverse-input cutoff function to be activated or deactivated through push-pull operation.

  • Patent number: 5833327
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a braking force control system capable of generating a first braking force and a second braking force that is a supplement to the first braking force. The first braking force is generated in response to the operation of the brake pedal. The second braking force is generated when the operation speed of the brake pedal is more than the threshold value. The operation stroke sensor detects the operation stroke of the brake pedal as the operation stroke data. The timer detects the operation time of the brake pedal as the operation time data. The operation speed of the brake pedal is calculated on the basis of the operation stroke data and the operation time data in the electric controller. The RAM of the electric controller memorizes operation stroke data and operation speed data from a plurality of operations. The threshold value is calculated on the basis of the plural operation stroke data and the plural operation speed data.

  • Patent number: 5704694
Abstract: A traction control device includes a vacuum booster connected to a master cylinder. The master cylinder is in fluid communication with a driven wheel brake and a non-driven wheel brake via respective first and second solenoid valves. When the brake traction control initiation condition is established, the booster is activated to supply fluid pressure from the master cylinder to the driven wheel brake and the non-driven wheel brake. After elapse of a time from the activation of the booster, the second solenoid valve is closed to prevent a further increase of the brake fluid pressure in the non-driven wheel brake. Thereafter, the brake fluid pressure in the driven wheel brake is adjusted by controlling the first solenoid valve as well as by controlling a fluid pressure pump which is associated with the fluid communication between the master cylinder and the driven wheel brake.

  • Patent number: 4624508
Abstract: A regulator valve for a hydraulic anti-skid apparatus and which includes a housing provided with a first inlet port for connection to a fluid pump and the anti-skid apparatus, a second inlet port for connection to a master cylinder, and an outlet port for connection to a fluid reservoir, a regulator piston reciprocably disposed within the housing to form a first fluid chamber in open communication with the first inlet and outlet ports and a second fluid chamber in open communication with the second inlet port, and a spring loaded annular valve seat member arranged within the first fluid chamber to cooperate with a valve part of the piston so as to control the fluid flow from the first inlet port to the outlet port in response to the difference in pressure between the fluid chambers. A support member is arranged within the first fluid chamber formed therein with an axial bore in which a large diameter portion of the piston is slidably disposed to form a third annular fluid chamber.

  • Patent number: 4492414
Abstract: A regulator valve for a hydraulic anti-skid apparatus, in which a first valve member in the form of a piston is reciprocable within a housing for the regulator valve and subdivides the interior of the housing into first and second chambers arranged to be respectively applied with a hydraulic power pressure from a fluid pump and a master cylinder pressure from a master cylinder, the first valve member being formed at its one end with a valve part exposed within the first chamber, and in which a second annular valve member is arranged in the first chamber coaxially with the first valve member and is formed at its one end with a first small diameter valve part cooperating with the valve part of the first valve member to form a first annular throttle for throttling the fluid flow from the pump to a fluid reservoir through the first chamber and at its other end with a second large diameter valve part cooperating with the inner end wall of the first chamber to form a second annular throttle for throttling the fluid

  • Patent number: 4097841
Abstract: A fault alarm device for a vehicle dual brake system including front and rear master cylinders, front and rear wheel cylinders and a proportioning valve which functions to develop proportioned rear wheel braking fluid pressure at a reduced rate relative to the rear wheel braking fluid pressure from the rear master cylinder. The fault alarm device comprises a fault alarm circuit for indicating the fault in the dual brake system when energized, and a control valve interposed between the master cylinders and the wheel cylinders and associated with the proportioning valve. The control valve includes a body, a stepped cylinder formed in the body, a stepped piston slidably inserted in the stepped cylinder, and a sleeve slidably interposed between the stepped cylinder and piston. The alarm device further comprises a switch engaged with the stepped piston for energizing the alarm circuit in response to the sliding movement of the stepped piston from its neutral position.

  • Patent number: 4093314
Abstract: An improved brake pressure proportioning unit of the kind responsive to centrifugal force developed by a turning vehicle and having two separate weight-activated levers controlling the springs that determine the pressure reduction setpoints of two proportioning valves, utilizes a link to connect the separate levers outside the pressure boundaries for automatically equalizing the exerting forces of the springs and permitting manual adjustment of the biasing of the springs a like amount. Also, an improved brake pressure proportioning unit of the abovementioned kind uses a single weight and lever mechanism for equalizing the absolute magnitude of changes in the working length of both springs during a turn, the change in one spring being an increase and the change in the other being a decrease in working length.
