  • Patent number: 10065714
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a testing system that is configured to test subsea power components in-situ while they are deployed on the sea floor. The testing system includes a top side testing system with test instruments, a multi-conductor work-over umbilical cable, and a subsea deployable test head. The test head can be deployed using and ROV and makes electrical connection to the subsea power component via wet connects.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 25, 2015
Date of Patent: September 4, 2018
    Assignee: ONESUBSEA IP UK LIMITED
    Inventor: Asbjoern Diesen
  • Patent number: 9679693
Abstract: A seawater-based high resistance grounding device for a subsea transformer includes an insulated pipe mounted to the outside of the transformer so as to be exposed to seawater. The insulated pipe has two or more cylindrical metallic electrodes electrically connected to ground and to the neutral node of the secondary transformer windings. The volume of seawater within the pipe and between the electrodes provides one or more high resistance ground paths for protection of the transformer.

  • Publication number: 20160247618
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a subsea transformer is protected by an integrated high resistance grounding (HRG) device. The active components, including primary and secondary sets of windings for the transformer are mounted in an oil-filled transformer tank that is suitable for long-term deployment in a subsea environment. The HRG device is mounted in the same oil-filled transformer tank as the active transformer components.
