  • Patent number: 10722824
Abstract: A system and methods are disclosed for treating cooling fluid in a continuous metal casting process having a spray chamber. In some embodiments, the system includes a first compartment with an intermittently operable outlet (e.g., valve) with an open state and a closed state, for removing particulate matter, and a second compartment that receives particle-free fluid from the first compartment. The first compartment may be tapered, conical, funnel, pyramidal shape or otherwise narrowed shape to facilitate settling of the particles. One or more sensors measure at least one property of the particle-free fluid to determine the opened or closed state of the outlet and to adjust chemical additives for the cooling fluid. In some embodiments, the system and methods reduce corrosion in spray chambers.

  • Patent number: 10196066
Abstract: A system includes an engine, a transmission driven by the engine, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive a speed input, receive feedback indicative of a load of the engine at a current engine speed, compare the load to a predetermined load threshold at the current engine speed, determine an expected engine speed based at least on the current engine speed, a current gear ratio, and an expected gear ratio, determine an estimated engine power at the expected engine speed and a current engine power at the current engine speed, and command a gear downshift when the load is greater than or equal to the predetermined load threshold and when the estimated engine power is greater than the current engine power.

  • Patent number: 10094470
Abstract: A method includes receiving a first shaft speed, measuring a parameter indicative of a PTO shaft speed, determining a PTO shaft acceleration by monitoring the parameter indicative of the PTO shaft speed over time, determining, via a plurality of estimators, a plurality of normalized PTO clutch gear ratios, wherein each of the plurality of estimators determines one of the plurality of normalized PTO clutch gear ratios based, at least in part, on the first shaft speed, the PTO shaft speed, and one of a plurality of known PTO transmission gear ratio options, and selecting one of the plurality of estimators, when the PTO shaft acceleration drops below a threshold value, wherein the normalized PTO clutch gear ratio determined by the selected estimator is about 1.

  • Patent number: 10087861
Abstract: A method for maintaining an engine speed of an engine of a work vehicle includes sending a requested parameter indicative of the engine speed to an engine controller of the work vehicle. The method also includes receiving a measured parameter indicative of the engine speed. The method further includes determining whether the requested parameter is different from the measured parameter. The method also includes setting a controller-requested parameter indicative of the engine speed based at least in part on the requested parameter and the measured parameter. The method further includes sending the controller-requested parameter to the engine controller. The method accounts for speed and torque saturation in order to avoid windup in the controller.

  • Patent number: 9771079
Abstract: A method includes measuring a parameter indicative of a measured torque in a PTO clutch, determining an incremental torque based at least in part on proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control logic, determining a command torque, wherein the command torque is a sum of the measured torque and the incremental torque, generating a control signal, wherein a current of the control signal corresponds to the command torque and a pressure in a cylinder of the PTO clutch, providing the control signal to the PTO clutch, reducing the incremental torque if an engagement power exceeds an engine power output, and ceasing engagement if an energy absorbed by the clutch exceeds an energy rating of the PTO clutch.

  • Publication number: 20120029959
Abstract: The method of extending floats in the critical path method (CPM) method allows for extending the project duration while keeping the networking basic parameter of total float intact. The method allows for rescheduling of the start times of some activities so that the resource requirements never exceed the specified resource limit. The extendable network transforms the process of seeking an extended schedule that fulfils resource constraints from searching in a boundless solution space to searching in a well-defined and definite solution space. The definite searching space harnesses for the mathematical formulation of the optimization techniques, i.e., integer programming, which provides the optimum solution as a schedule that fulfills the resource constraint and yet minimizes the project duration.
