The method also includes causing the first bare-metal server to migrate data associated with the tenant to the second bare-metal server in advance of the reboot.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, if service on both first and second networks is available, an access terminal negotiates with an access network to establish a paging cycle for the first network (e.g., 1x EV-DO) and a first dynamic paging cycle for the second network (e.g., CDMA2000 1x). If service on the second network is maintained but service on the first network becomes unavailable, the access network negotiates a second dynamic paging cycle (e.g., more aggressive or shorter than the first dynamic paging cycle) for the second network. If the access terminal determines that service on the second network is maintained and service is again available on the first network, the access terminal re-negotiates the first dynamic paging cycle for the second network. Accordingly, paging cycles on the second network are dynamically adjusted based on a service availability status of the first network.

In another embodiment, during a session currently supported either by half-duplex or full-duplex, the server arbitrating the session receives a request from one of the session participants to transition the session to another duplex-type. The server then selectively transitions the duplex-type of the session.

    Abstract: A server conducts a communication session between an originating device and at least one target device via a first duplex characteristic (e.g., half-duplex, full-duplex, media share, etc.). The server monitors a set of session parameters while the communication session has the first duplex characteristic. Based on the monitoring, the server detects one or more changes to at least one session parameter in the set of session parameters. The server automatically determines to transition the communication session from the first duplex characteristic to a second duplex characteristic (e.g., half-duplex, full-duplex, media share, etc.) in response to the detection. The server transitions the communication session from the first duplex characteristic to the second duplex characteristic in response to the determination.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for efficiently updating location information of a mobile device in a wireless communication network, such as a cellular network, is disclosed. The mobile device sends a location message over an access channel. The wireless communication device continually transmits a location message at periodic intervals without regards to the status of the base station in communication with the wireless communication device. The base station determines a timeslot in which to receive a location message transmitted by the wireless communication device. If more than one wireless communication device is transmitting a location message, the base station prioritizes the order in which to receive the location message, opening the first available timeslot to the higher priority wireless communication device. A high priority device may be a wireless communication device used by emergency services personnel, such as firefighters or the police.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, an access terminal sends a request for a level of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access network, the QoS resource request associated with a call attempt by the access terminal. The access terminal proceeds with call set-up for the call attempt irrespective of whether the access network grants the QoS resource request. Alternatively, the access terminal waits for an extended period of time before the call attempt is permitted to fail. In a further example, in the event of call failure, the access terminal can refrain from informing a user thereof of the call failure. In another embodiment, the access network can respond to the QoS resource request with an allocation of a lower level QoS resources than requested if the requested QoS resources are not available. The access terminal can likewise be permitted to participate in the call with the lower level QoS resources.

The device transitions the communication interface, after the determination, from the dormant state to an active state. In the active state, the device performs one or more actions to reduce a delay associated with a transmission of the potential communication session resource request in the event that the potential communication session resource request is actually transmitted by the device. For example, in the active state, the device can power-up or wake-up a radio bearer or modem to reduce a delay before transmission of the potential communication session resource request.

The traffic channel to the receive-only wireless communication device is transitioned to a uni-directional, forward-only traffic channel such that media is provided from the originating wireless communication device to the receive-only wireless communication device via the uni-directional traffic channel.
