  • Patent number: 10860013
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for providing recommendations to address design flaws of power system equipment and/or model design flaws for equipment model types of power system equipment. For example, historical sensor data and/or historical field test data, collected from power system equipment, may be analyzed to identify a design flaw of the power system equipment (e.g., a design flaw of a seal ring). A redesign cost to redesign the power system equipment, a failure impact of a failure from the design flaw, a maintenance repair and/or replacement cost, a manufacture alternative component cost to use an alternative component for manufacturing the power system equipment, and/or other factors may be taken into account to crate and provide a recommendation to address the design flaw.

  • Patent number: 9995655
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for assessing power system equipment of a power system. Historical sensor data and/or historical field test data collected from the power system equipment may be utilized to develop a health profile of the power system equipment. The health profile is indicative of a predicted health (e.g., or probability of failure) of the power system equipment. In one embodiment, the health profile further comprises a health index score which evaluates that health of the power system equipment in terms of the importance of the power system equipment to the power system. Using the health profiles developed for a plurality of power system equipment, a maintenance strategy for at least a portion of the power system may be developed.

  • Patent number: 7239977
Abstract: A method and system for the systematic evaluation and rating of technical equipment using a data processing device (20), which works together with at least one data memory (21) and has an input (22) and display device (23), in which, step-by-step for the particular technical equipment, at least one first data set having economically relevant input parameters and at least one second data set having technically relevant input parameters are detected and/or established. For each data set, through knowledge-based predetermined numerical and/or logical linkages and knowledge-based predetermined weighting factors specific to the equipment, the established input parameters are brought together into an economic evaluation parameter FIx and a technical evaluation parameter RIx, respectively, and from the established evaluation parameters, through knowledge-based predetermined numerical linkages and weighting factors, a single overall resulting evaluation parameter EIx is determined.

  • Patent number: 6870374
Abstract: A preferred method for identifying a type of abnormality in an insulation system of a power transformer comprises measuring dielectric losses in a section of the insulation system, calculating theoretical dielectric losses for the section based on the material properties, geometry, and temperature of the section, and generating a graphical representation of a percent difference between the measured and calculated dielectric losses. The preferred method also comprises comparing a shape of the graphical representation with a shape of one or more graphical representations of a percent difference between measured and theoretical dielectric losses in one or more other sections of insulation each known to have a specific type of abnormality.
