    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may report an initial capability to maintain latency conditions and a number of supported beams (e.g., a threshold number of beams the UE can support for relaying downlink communications such as synchronization signal blocks (SSBs)). A network entity may then transmit multiple SSBs directly to the repeater (e.g., on the same beam). The repeater may relay the SSBs across multiple beams to provide service to a coverage area. After relaying signaling between served UEs and the network entity, the repeater may transmit a report requesting a specific (e.g., improved or more accurate) number of beams (e.g., more beams or fewer beams than the number of SSBs initially provided). Upon receiving an updated configuration of a number of beams, the repeater may receive more SSBs on a single beam, and relay SSBs on the updated number of beams.

Then, the base station transmits the PDSCH to the UE using the second directional beam. The UE uses the indication of the EIRP relationship to receive the PDSCH from the base station over the second directional beam.

In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes a base station determining a configuration action for a served user equipment (UE) in communication with the base station. The base station may then generate a short control message associated with the configuration action and map that short control message onto a set of inactive subcarrier resource elements (REs) of a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence. The served UE may then receive the transmitted DMRS sequence and determine the short control message within the set of inactive subcarrier REs of the DMRS sequence. The UE may upconvert the reference signal to a set of subcarriers corresponding to the first subset of resources and transmit the upconverted reference signal on the first subset of resources. The wireless device may transmit the selected CQI index to the base station.
